  • 19" Winter Rubber?

Is there such a thing as 19" winter rubber? How much does something like that cost.. I have a spare set of 19" rims kicking around and I"m wondering if it'll end up cheaper to just buy rubber for those as opposed to buying new rims and rubber in a smaller size...

    Thanks!

I've seen tirerack.com sell some blizzaks they were 225/40R19 so yah im sure they are 19 inch winter tires probably around $250 to $300 though.

        Re: 19" Winter Rubber?

In the past I paid 1200 for 18" blizzaks
I bet that you would pay 350+ each for them if they even make the size.

That is way too much imo for winter tires, more than summer tires!!!

255/35/19 blizzaks from Tirerack land here at $1800 - and that's likely the cheapest you'll find.

Yeah I had a feeling that they'd be a bit much. Thanks for the replies, I'll dig around for a smaller set of rims and see what I can come up with!

                Re: 19" Winter Rubber?

There are also Dunlop's and Pirelli's out there in 19's.

As for downsizing... I used to downsize from 18" to 16" for the winter on my old car. However, on the new one... due to the brakes, etc... I could only downsize from 18" to 17" so I decided to just go with 18"ers.

My opinion: If you can downsize from 19's to say 17's... then do it. You will notice a difference however, if you're only dropping a size to 18... I'm not sure you'll really notice the difference. But... then again... perhaps riding all winter long on 19's is a bit much?

Updated Opinion: Since you're driving an X-Drive BMW... might as well represent??? 19's all the way! There is a Sprint Blue RS4 in my area who rides on 19" winters every year if that is of any consideration.

                Cheers...
