  • Performance tires with stretch

Hey I am looking for tires to fit on a 17x8, and 17x8.5 wheels. I would like to get a slight stretch look. I am thinking of 205/40/17 for sizing. Can anyone (Bob) recommend a tire?

I have been looking into Toyo TR1s, and Falken 452. They have been recommended due to the stretching properties, not based on the performance of the tires

    Thanks!

What car are you rocking these on? Is it a staggered set up?

They are going on a 1994 Golf GTI 2.0L (so 4 bolt)

The wheels are 17x8 et 24 in the fronts, and 17x8.5 et 18 in the rear.

So there is a slight stagger to the stance.

Yeah, 205/40R17's will definitely give you some stretch without going crazy... As for which tires stretch better, well this size is built to fit on wheels up to 8.0 inches wide and still be within suggested operating specs, so any tire will fit fine. as for which one looks better, cosmetics are purely subjective depending what you personally like, and I can't say I have stretched every 205/40R17 going so it is tough to say what looks best in this size. Kumho SPT's, Toyo T1R's, General UHP's etc have all stretched decently...

          Thanks for the input!

Out of those three brands, will the fit be similar? Or will certain brands fit wider?

I am a noob when it comes to this, but in my research it seems that that certain brands fit bigger even though the measurements are the same.

I want to try to avoid the rubbing...Without trial and error.

Out of those 3 tires, which is your "best" all around performer?

The General would probably be the narrowest out of those all, then the Toyo, then the Kumho, but all are pretty little... The Kumho would be best in dry, Toyo in wet/dry combo, and General longest lasting...

Great can you give me a quote on the Toyo's? For 4 wheels mounted and balanced and out the door?

              Thanks!

                Toyo is a good choice.

Well when your car only runs a few months of the year, and even then only when it feels like it. Longest lasting isn't to critical.

Does Urban Expressions not sell Toyo?
