Swapping summer to winter tyres(tires!)

I want to swap my summers to winters. Both sets have rims, so its just a case of taking the summers off and putting the winters on.

But my winter rims are not the type that you can just mount on to the car and screw on like a normal set of wheels (i.e they don't sit on the car while you screw in the bolts...does that make sense?).

I usally drop my car at Kal tire to get this done. But I wondered where everyone else goes to get this done and how much?

pretty much any shop that sells tires will mount them on your car for you. But like D-Bomb says, i think most of us just mount them ourselves.

do it yourself! save yourself some money, it'll be like 50-100 bux

if your tire seems to want to come down instead of hang in place check the toolkit with your car, there should be a long tool that you can thread in place of a lug and hang the tire off it.

Thanks for the info Canuck. I'l look into it. I dont mind mounting my tyres, but my winter rims are flat and the last time I did it the car was unbalanced.

Bob at Urban Expressions should also carry hub centric rings.

Even if you have bolts vs studs the rim should still "hang" off the hub....

My old winters were the same. They just need hub centric rings so they're not a ***** to put on. But it is still pretty easy to put them on without them

I'd only recommend doing it yourself if you have a hydraulic jack and a good tire iron, maybe some gloves... Makes it way easier.
