    Re: Let's Talk Phones

I would like to see what people have to say about the new HTCs, my brother has the desire and my friend has the legend and they both seem to be really slick phones (granted I haven't had much time to play around with them). I will likely end up with an Iphone as I recently installed an IPOD interface in my car and have been using an Ipod touch for years so it just makes sense but the gf doesn't want an Iphone or a black berry so Im leaning towards an HTC for her

EDIT: I know its not my thread but I personally think any posts regarding the blackberry vs Iphone feud should be kept out of the thread so it doesn't turn into a pissing contest

Lovin' my BB's (had all of them except for the blue bricks, worst was the pearl, best so far is the new bold 9700 for software and functions). Will not be jumping on the Apple bandwagon ever.

Anyone tried any of HTC's new stuff? I had an old HTC and I liked it but was a little finicky at the time, would love to give them another whirl.

it's surprising that HTC went the way of android. i know it'd be flattering having a deal with Google. but google pretty much sucks at every UI it's ever had. i believe in google's programmers. but they have horrible UI. even google search engine is a peice of crap when you start dealing with advanced searches. even worse is dealing with google analytics or webmaster tools. yuck.

i've had a few HTC's. the tytn, tytn 2 (tilt), dream....

i liked the windows mobile versions the best. i enjoyed WM 6.1 with a home replacement app, that i forget the name of. *Shrug*

now that HTC has gone the way of android, it will hurt them. my anology is like this. HTC did "alright" in north america, and did real good in europe with their Windows Mobile phones.

now with google anroid on their lap, north american market is jumping on the android train. problem is, ppl are disapointed by the lack of UI friendliness and control in the market place.

there is no software control in the market place at all. and it shows.

like the blackberry, the android (htc phones) are a dieing breed. the only ppl left using them, are the ones who have enough energy to fight the hardest.

i've used a few of the newer htc's. i got to say, the screen quality is amazing! they're almost near the iphone 4 quality. but, it's still android.

have you tried to use android? it's really bizarre. if you don't know how to use a computer, it's probably easier to learn android.

i wish windows mobile was still a competitive alternative. but microsoft really dropped the ball on it. they had some fantastic ideas, just poor implementation.

i don't even know if windows mobile is still under development? maybe for some portable devices running CE, like my car stereo and Ford's Sync. but other then that, i think their phone market is dead.

if HTC doesn't do something quick about an android alternative... i fear HTC will be in trouble in a few years

a clien tof mine has a motorola droid-x running android 2.2
its a pretty sweet phone! a big oddly shaped/designed but has alot of cool features and an interesting GUI.. i kinda liked the multiple screens for apps..

i think what sets most phones apart is the fact that apple has the massive app backing which sets them ahead of the reset.

iphone has multiple screens, and started it before android. the android implementation of it is weak at best.

the features that android puts in are no different then what's on the iphone. however, the interface to access the features is ugly and not intuitive.

i also dislike how you have to sift through 50 android apps before you find one that actually "Semi works". and by then, something new came out and now you feel compelled to try it. but it sucks, so u go back to the original, and rinse and repeat.

Anyone here have or played around with the BB Torch? I am thinking of getting one soon but haven't come across anyone who owns one. If you have never used one or don't have one then don't give me your opinion of them, I only want the opinion of someone who actually has one.

Thanks for the quick splurge, good points there I did like the screen on my old HTC compared to my old Curve as well.

I own the storm, I would say avoid it, unless they've done a serious touch screen upgrade. I guess it's no longer the push down screen version though, in which case that may be a huge upgrade. Otherwise, I haven't used one. But I'm very familiar with how much the BB touch screen technology needs work.

Supposedly iPad 2 is going to have hdmi out. I don't know of any smart phones that have hdmi. That would be awesome!

As far as smart phone choices goes, it's BB or iPhone. Everything else is just a phone.

When you have kids you will understand Ryan. We have to bring dvd's or USB stick with movies on it when we take the kids to someones house. It would be a dream to be able to just bring your phone or itouch etc and plug it in to whoevers tv and walk away.
