  • Public Service Announcement: Fuel Filter

Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Stop being a cheap-ass and get yourself a new one. Your fuel pump will thank you........poor little guy.

It's been 80,000 kms since mine has been change and look what came out of it. Changed it in about 30 mins and I can no longer hear the faint cries and whining from my fuel pump anymore.

        I've read in a number of places 40,000 miles = 64,000 kms

Re: Public Service Announcement: Fuel Filter

I suppose it depends on the specific filter your car uses, but it usually says what the service interval is right on the side of the filter. I'm pretty sure the 2.7T filter is 30,000km, but I haven't looked in a while, so my memory may be a little hazy.

I change my (fuel and cabin) filters once a year along with my fluids.

Service manual says that it's a lifetime part... along with the transmission fluid. Who hired these people?

Re: Public Service Announcement: Fuel Filter

It's pretty easy to tell, like I say, all you have to do is read the side of the filter. The service interval will vary not only with the platform that it's designed for, but the individual brand and type of filter, too.

I had to change mine cause It made a high pitched whine once it got cold outside. unlike the op the noise from mine was far from faint.

I change mine once a year with the oil change, but I only put about 5000km on a year. Cheap assurance.

regular ..... and premium are the same . the premium has a chemical added at the depot to increse octane . the regular is not dirty . the gubbins collected by the fuel filter are , carbon deposits in the tank from fuel evaporation , mechanical wear from the fuel pump and injectors, and condensation from hot and cold weather , . change it often . its good for performance
