Hey, so I bought Evan's sawblade rims, but I needed to replace 2 of the tires. I decided to go with Kal tire because they only wanted $100 for a tire. i ordered the correct size and everything. They told me to drop off the rims on friday (the 22nd), so i did and then told me I could pick them up the next day (saturday, the 23rd). Well, when i called them to confirm that i was coming to pick them up, they told me that they ordered 2 tires, but one of them wasnt the correct size, and that i would have to wait until tuesday (26th) to pick them up. It seems shady that they somehow screwed up when i ordered 2 of the exact same tire. anyways, my question is: I feel like i should ask for a discount for them screwing up. I feel it would be reasonable to ask. would you? who is in the wrong...? just want some opinions. I've heard both good and bad about kal tire.... i guess i have learned now. hehe

I personally wouldn't ask for a discount. I doubt they ordered the wrong tires, the distributor probably just sent them the wrong one. Not like they installed them and sent you off on your way.

Mistakes happen. No need to go crazy about it.

The distributor probably sent two incorrect size tires. They were not mounted and you really are only out a day or two with your new wheels (which you don't want to install anyways without installing coilovers right?) so it shouldn't be a big deal. Mistakes happen.
Also when dealing with Kal Tire go see Chad @ the Kal Tire on 32nd in the NE. Definitely the only Kal Tire i bring my car to, he owns a mk4 jetta so he knows a lot about our cars and will give you discounts for being a member if you have a Eurodrivers membership card.Comment

im not really mad or anything. just wanting to hear opinions on whether or not it would be appropriate to ask for a discount. i took them to the one. it was the shawnessy location. pretty funny - when i gave my rims to them, the guy said "oh cool, sawblades!"D R E WComment

You can always ask since it doesn't hurt, something like:
"Hey guys, since I've had to come here twice because the tires were wrong, do you think I could get a small discount?"
Maybe they say yes, maybe no. As long as you don't walk in there angry and yelling for the manager I don't think anyone will be upset with you asking. I've gotten small 5%-15% discounts by asking nicely before.
- On the flip side anyone who goes in to a store yelling and asking for a manager is practically guaranteed to get a discount since no business wants a scene and will do just about anything to quiet down an angry customer, a practice which really makes me angry.Comment

I was only being facetious for a laugh, this is the internet afterall? I was making a comment about our ever increasing litigious society.
In all seriousness Drew, I've done alot of business with Kal tire and you can ask if they'll give you the vip price (commercial price) for the mounting? It has been my experience that they are much more able to give a discount on labor than the cost of tires/parts. May the force be with you hahaComment
