  • Wheel repair shops Edmonton and Calgary?

So I have some damage to my OEM RS6 wheels, thanks to the movers for putting one of them face down on my dirty garage floor. They also shipped them stacked with no packing material in between them, which was a problem because the wheel faces are flush with the tires and they touch when you stack them.

I have light to heavy scratches in the paint, mostly on the wheel edges from being stacked. There was a little bit of (light) curbage on two of the wheels when I bought the car last year, and I was planning on having them fixed anyhow at some point, but I guess the time has come.

I am weighing the pros and cons of getting them stripped and polished, for a different look. Usually, I am not that much into blingy wheels, but my car is a silver '04 S4 , and I like the look of polished / chrome wheels with silver.

I am aware of the following shops that do wheel repair:

    - Wheel Works in Edmonton
    - Image Auto Appearance (Kwicksilver) in Edmonton
    - Alberta Wheel Repair in Calgary
    - AWRS (Alberta Wheel Repair Service) in Calgary

I have used Wheel Works in the past for some curb rash / straightening. They are OK I guess, but I have no experience with the other shops and want to shop around a bit this time.

Anyone have any suggestions on which shop to use and why? If I am upgrading beyond just having them repainted and go the polished route, cost will be important as I have just moved to a new house and have a lot of landscaping expenses, etc. to deal with this year. Car upgrades are pretty much on the back burner for now, but I realize you usually get what you pay for and most of these shops are probably similar pricing?

As a personal opinion, I've had wheels done by Alberta wheel here in Calgary and have had problems with paint matching as well as more damage done to the spokes of the wheel from where they had them stored after they fixed the lips on them, wouldn't own up to it or bump up how fast they could get it repaired even if I did pay, not good.

Andre @ Alloy Wheel (AWRS, Mobile guys) is a great guy! Paint matching is perfect every time, has bent some wheels straight for me as well and had no issues. I don't know if he will polish a wheel that has been painted but one quick phone call will figure out that and the cost of it.

Most paint/bend repairs are about $150-$175 depending on damage from both Andre and Alberta.

Can't comment on any of the Edmonton guys.

Andre (Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists) straightened, fixed up some curbage and re-painted my rims on the VRT years ago; turned out absolutely perfect.

One of my stock Aristos for the R32 was bent on the inside so it was leaking; again, perfect work by Andre to fix it.

...plus he's a super cool guy to deal and chat with... I won't deal with anyone else now.

Didn't Andrej's business used to be called Mobile Wheel Repair? Either way that is who I recommend, he is like an artist, there is no way I can describe how much care and pride he takes in his work, he is a nice guy and understands that you want the wheel to look brand new.

So many stories of Alberta Wheel Repair returning wheels that just didn't look right...

          Thanks for the information.

If I repair them in Calgary, I think I will use Andrej. I met him once when getting keys programmed at Royal Oak Audi.

He was there working on a customer's car and I was quite impressed with his work at the time.

Good to hear that he is a good guy to deal with.

Anyone have the skinny on the Edmonton shops though?

Got my wheels repaired my Marty at Kwicksilver (Image Auto Appearance) in Edmonton and thought I should update on here that I am pretty happy with the results. Looks like they did before the damage and at a decent price, too. This was a pretty easy repair for him to do.

i've had my svt stock wheels repaired at alberta wheel repair a few years ago. apparently it was under original management at the time and i experienced horrible service. they were short, rude and took their time. it cost me $200 to have one wheel repaired and refinished and they took nearly a month to do it.

however, i hear they are under new management and it's obvious things have changed. i dropped my cracked wheel off to them on tuesday evening for repair. they quoted $150 and that includes removing a small flat spot, as well as repairing the crack. they also quoted 1-2 days for repair time. much friendlier staff and great price.

i picked my wheel up from alberta tire today. such nice guys to talk to. so friendly and helpful. the cost came to $156 including tax. they straightened the wheel AND welded the crack. the crack was severe, pretty bad. you can't even see where they did the work. i'm ultra impressed. it only took 1 day!
