Looking real good Jason.; love the carbon fibre touch. Do you happen to park on the street at night?

Also get that bubbling purple tint off the back. That only belongs on Dodge Caravans.

Damn, you know where I live...
The tints on my to-do list for GCVW! I've removed tint before and it was a steamy hot mess, so I'm trying to delay that terrible job.

Anywho, heres another little side project.. Some of you may have noticed that I took the fake centerlock looking hubcap off the ESMs. I dislike them. And I quite like the exposed hub/lugs look, but I think I can do better..

I took some measurements, and started drawing up a quick model on Solidworks.

I based the style off old VW Mk1/2 Teardrop hubcaps for a bit of an oldschool and OEM+ look.

      Getting there...

Then, I sent it off to the 3D printer!

I test fitted this first prototype, and the fitment was on point. But as you can probably see, our printer's printing resolution i'snt exactly the greatest, so this was a minor disaster. Not to fear though, I think I have a solution to the problem. Afterall, this Mk3 was/is being built, one disaster at a time.

This one hasnt been smoothed, thats just the raw finish. We have a product called XTC-3D by Smooth-On thats pretty much just a 2-part epoxy with a specific viscosity that I will brush on for the final parts.

Oh, guess I should update this. I finally finished up with my rear seat delete/ bag install clean up.
Started with a wooden frame to hide the Airlift ECU/ valves and ****. Just made this out of 2x2s and 90 degree metal brackets.

So I made a crude template out of cardboard a while ago...

And of course it magically no longer fits... at all? like the whole things about half an inch short..

So, back to work with the cardboard, fits a little better.

Triple checked the final fitment, and then traced it onto some MDF.

I didnt have a saw horse or work table... so I just aired out and used my roofracks. Then I took a jigsaw and cut it out.

Finally I wrapped it in carpet, and of course, with my luck after getting my interior code and buying the exact shade of OEM carpet it didnt match. In retrospect, my interiors 20 years old, and faded, and no longer the same colour as what came with the car in 1997... also need to figure out what to do with speaker grilles.
So, heres the finished product... i think im gonna redo the OEM rear half with new material so atleast that all matches.

You could repaint the rear carpet with Duplicolor Vinyl&Fabric black. It might then match your new carpet.
