Paint is one of those things you really dont want to skimp on.

I would cut my losses and take the car elsewhere. Its just going to be more work and money down the road to get right.

          Re: My Ginster Mk3 Build

That's a fucking joke. There is literally no way to mix the colour wrong if you're using a paint code. Obviously has no idea how to paint or even properly measure and mix paint.
**** that guy. I did warn you about backyard auto body guys.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend respraying it without someone who knows what they are doing if you want a paintjob to be proud of. Paint is much more challenging than most would think.
I would go over to this douchebag's shop and make sure he is properly prepping the car before paint because like stated above he WILL skimp and just spray over paint and it will chip/peel in months.
Actually, I would demand my money back and tell him to kick rocks.
Sorry to hear this guy did such a hack job.
No body filler over a welded panel? Actually makes me mad. Lazy and stupid.
Sorry to hear all this bro.

Yeah.. really. If i get the car back and the rear quarter panels still wavy theres no way in hell he's getting a penny from me. Just gonna drive the car away and cut my loses for the cost of the paint itself, and my wasted time. The reason i decided to go with a backyard guy this time is that i had bad experiences with a reputable shop in the past.. wanted to try something new. If you find someone whose actually proud of the work they do then there shouldnt be any issues. This guys just lazy.

The guy obviously knows what hes doing judging by the things he says and how the actual paint finish turned out. Its just a shame that he doesn't apply it to his own work. Im honestly not sure what happened with the paint colour, he get his supplies from the same place i get my touchup rattle cans, and ive had Ginster Yellow mixed up with the same code in the past. Is it possible for these paint mixing machines to glitch or jam?

My dad's theory is that he only ordered half the paint he needed (to make some profit from the money i gave him in advance for materials) and mixed it with a different yellow left over from a previous job. Thinking that i was dumb enough not to tell the difference The actual shade of yellow is so close that we thought it was ginster when we first drove by. Upon closer inspection it just looked... faded. Its a pastel Ginster Yellow.

Either way, well see what happens in about a weeks time... See you all at CloseToHome

We mix our product on scales. Computers read out the amount of each colour needed for a however much you need.

Oh.. that debunks my theory then. Anyways, a yellow Subaru drove by CloseToHome today that caught my eye..... after doing some googling ive found that Subaru Sonic Yellow looks strikingly like the colour my car was painted....

Went to go check on the prep work yesterday, that wavy quarter panel has been fixed and all the tiny little crevices have been sanded. So far so good, if the paintwork itself is as good as it was last time ill be extremely happy.
