  • Porsche Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS

Porsche has taken the wraps off the more powerful Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS derivatives which will sit on top of the range.

We already knew from spy photos uprated versions of the Boxster and Cayman were on their way and now Porsche has made the news official. The duo will continue to share the 3.4-liter flat six-cylinder boxer engine but now it delivers an additional 15 HP (11 kW) so the Boxster GTS is rated at 330 HP (243 kW) while the Cayman GTS packs a 340 HP (250 kW) punch. In addition, the torque figure has gone up by 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) to 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) in the Boxster GTS and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) in the Cayman GTS, while the Sport Chrono package comes as standard on both models.

Fitted with the optional PDK, the 2014 Porsche Boxster GTS will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and is 0.1s slower than the Cayman GTS. The Boxster GTS equipped with the manual six-speed transmission can hit a top speed of 175 mph (281 km/h) whereas its fixed roof sibling can do 177 mph (285 km/h).

The duo is fitted as standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and come as standard with 20-inch alloy wheels borrowed from the 911 Carrera S and wrapped around in 235/35 front and 265/35 rear tires. The cars are further visually distinguishable from the S versions by their blackened bi-xenon headlights along updated front and rear bumpers. Inside the cabin they both feature sports seats and leather upholstery with Alcantara trim.

Sales of both models are programmed to begin in May, with prices in Germany starting at 69,949 EUR for the Boxster GTS and 73,575 EUR for the Cayman GTS. In UK the Boxster GTS is priced at 52,879 pounds and from 55,397 pounds for the Cayman GTS.

Re: Porsche Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS

I went looking to order a GTS Cayman this weekend and they will not be here till September at the earliest, also both Calgary and Edmonton only get one each and are already highly optioned. In talking to the dealer here in Edmonton it would be unlikely the car will be less than $110K. It is going to be great car and super rare, but it is just so expensive. Can't wait to see one though, also I was told there will be a 918 Spyder at the new Edmonton Porsche dealer's grand opening for the new building.
