Head is on but I have to go through my box of **** and clean the oil pan and bottom end stuff so I can get the pan on and start timing.

Re: MKIV GTI - Rebuild Edition

Guess I forgot about this! The car has taken a bit of a different turn and is not going back together stock like previously planned. I've been slowly working on it, however I moved to Saskatchewan temporarily and just got reconstructive knee surgery a coupe weeks back. I've just been biding my time and amassing parts for it. Here's a list of things i've picked up.

OEM hid reps, new jetta fenders, and a badgeless grill.
VR clutch with a 14lb flywheel
        BFI motor mounts
        Fluidampr
        SMIC
        Water meth setup
        K04-022
        GLI brakes
        Dieselgeek short shifter

I've got some more stuff to order pretty soon.. just waiting to sell my beater to pick up a 42DD downpipe, injectors, catch can setup, ecu tune, 3" maf housing, rad and fan setup and some hoses.. then it should run.

Got the bottom end all put together.

Then threw the oil pan on after I cleaned it up.

Bolted down the head and got the lifters put in.

Starting to look like an engine!

Cams and some seals put in.

Put my wheels on it and got the car home a while back.

Dirty, dirty girl. Sat in a shop for a couple years.

          This is the starting point.

Looks like a parts bomb went off in the garage and kitchen.

So I started the cleaning. I think I will eventually get the all black headliner from and r32 or aniv gti of some sort. I loved the all black interior in my GLI. I also have a line on a set of corbeau seats to put in.

Got the motor all sealed and timed. Put almost everything together, still have a few gaskets on order though.

Currently in town with the car and funemployed.. so lots of work will be getting done in the next two weeks!

Looks good. What are you doing for the turbo?

            (you bought my parts right?)

Edit: Just saw you're going with a ko4

Yeah man i'm the one who bought your parts. This is what they're going on!

Just got some bay cleaning done today before it started to rain. I need some good degreaser.

Still deciding if I want to go through the trouble of removing the dash to take out the rest of the AC stuff. On the one hand.. thats where lots of the weight savings is, on the other.. I don't particularly want to pull the dash. PITA.

Gotta get my passport renewed so I can cruise down to the states to pick up parts!

Re: MKIV GTI - Rebuild Edition

After a bunch of moving around, I relocated to Calgary. I started work on it once I got it up here.

I bolted up the motor mount bracket to realize the block was cracked.

So I had something similar to the dieselgeek fix made, but a little beefier.

                Then I did some cleaning.

I had to clearance the bell housing for the flywheel.
                [/URL]

                Engine and trans going in.

Front end going on, starting to look like a car!

                A few interior bits.

Got the rad fans mounted up.

Had to modify the rad support a bit.

Bought an exhaust, not real happy with the fitment, I'll go full custom in the future.

Side mount.. Gotta do the ic pipes still.
