  • WTB: Winter beater or Winter wheels

Hi guys, i'm looking at getting either a winter beater or winter wheels:

Winter beater must at least be reliable and drivable for this winter looking for something around 2,200-2,300$ tops (the lower the better)

    Or

Winter wheels mags or steelies (preferably 17'') with 225(235)/40(45)/R17. 18'' would work as well if they are 225/40/R18.

If anyone knows something/someone reliable that has something good to sell that can last me the winter without any major problems costing me thousands, i'd be really appreciated.

    Thanks

You should have put this up a week ago. I had a 2004 jetta 1.8T that was written due to hail damage, and was perfect mechanically except needed a thermostat. Buyback from insurance was $2250 they towed it away three days ago.

Shame.... But wouldn't a written off car be "not insurable" ?

Hail damage write off vehicles are insurable, just not eligible for full coverage.

Actually full coverage, just no hail coverage otherwise I was fully insured. Just couldn't look at those dimples every time I approached it. Had the car 3 weeks, then hail destroyed the body
