  • TVR Back Again

Reborn British specialty marque is now showing off the carbon fiber chassis built using the “iStream” manufacturing process pioneered by none other than Gordon Murray, McLaren F1’s designer. The lightweight chassis will help the car - believed to revive the “Griffith” moniker - tip the scales at just 2,535 pounds (1,150 kilograms).

In the fresh imagery we also get to see the sports car’s heart, a beefy Cosworth V8 engine which is expected to deliver more than 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) without turbo aid. That will be enough to enable the TVR run to 60 mph (96 kph) in less than four seconds.

Production is slated to commence next year at TVR’s brand new factory located in the vicinity of Circuit of Wales. The first 500 units will be a “Launch Edition” packed with more goodies that will carry a “sub-£100,000" price, making it much more expensive than the £65,000-ish regular model. Despite the hefty price tag, TVR says it has already received more than 400 pre-orders for the Launch Edition, so only 100 are still up for grabs even though the car has not been revealed yet.

TVR did bring an unfinished car to the London Motor Show earlier this month, but decided to keep it hidden under the covers in order to show it later this year in final specification. Hopefully it will be just as insane as previous models, but obviously more reliable.

      Re: TVR Back Again

Reborn British sports car marque TVR will finally debut its all-new model at the Goodwood Revival on September 8. The announcement made today comes along with a teaser image of the yet unnamed model showing one of the two round exhaust tips located behind the front wheels finished in black. The first 500 cars will be part of a Launch Edition priced at under £90,000 (approx. $155,000 CAD), but only of a few are still available, as TVR says it will soon close the order book and re-open it this fall when the car will receive its highly anticipated premiere.

Developed in collaboration with Gordon Murray Design, the new high-performance machine might be called "Griffith," considering the moniker was registered earlier this year by TVR. Fans of the marque will remember the label was phased out back in 2002 and now it looks like it might make a comeback.

Most of the juicy technical details are already available as we know the Cosworth-developed 5.0-litre V8 will develop 400 horsepower per ton. Taking into account TVR says the car will weigh 1,200 kilograms, it means the engine is going to produce somewhere in the region of 480 hp.

t’s going to be enough British punch to grant the sports car with a run to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometres per hour) from a standstill in less than four seconds and a top speed of 322 km/h.

The model will share the spotlight at the Goodwood Revival with several classic TVRs to mark the company’s 70th anniversary. It should be mentioned the sports car has already been shown behind closed doors to a number of prospective buyers invited at private events. Now, TVR is gearing up to show it publicly for everyone to see.

To end with a fun fact: It’s going to be the first-ever brand new vehicle to receive its premiere at the Goodwood Revival hosted in Sussex.
