Thanks guys. You're right Jay, it doesn't have mudflaps. I'm pretty happy about it if it reduces rust though! Hopefully it doesn't stay too stock for long. Hoping to do some big things for 2018.

Thank you! It sounds awesome, just a little quiet for my taste. Gunna take out the resonator and see how it sounds.

Only issues I've had with the .:R have been the cooling system fans which was easily fixed and the door lock circuit boards losing their connection which George fixed for me. Not sure if that's the same for all MK4's but I'm sure the rest of the guys will chime in with any other notable things to watch out for.

I lived in Airdrie until the start of September, which is when I moved into Calgary!

Hmm interesting Rob! I'll be sure to keep a look out for it.

                      Welcome and nice car.
You were lucky to be able to find one without rust, this is good for you and you future plan.

Hope to see it and hear how the Milltek sounds on a 24V.

I would pull the front fender liners and clean any dirt/buildup from behind the fenders, thats where they were notorious for rust. Once cleaned out I would recommend some cavity wax.

Thanks guys! BaggedGLI Yeah I had planned on cleaning the wheels wells and painting them with some rust prevention paint. Would cavity wax work better?

Also, does anyone have any leads on an .:r front bumper or a 20th lip locally? Or a R-line/Votex rear bumper?

Edit: I'm assuming the cavity wax would be better because paint can crack, causing a breach in the protective layer, right?

This is a replica company, but I've heard the quality and fitment is pretty good on these. If you plan on buying new.

I think 20th/r bumpers will be pretty tough to find locally but you never know!

Thanks Danny. I've looked into optikwerks, however they're stock is a bit iffy and their prices are a little high, so I think I'm going to wait a bit and see if one pops up!

There are advantages to both sides. Paint/POR 15 is there and will seal it but may hold water as well, any debris will sit on top of it. Cavity wax you dont really need to be as thorough on the cleaning side of things for adhesion purposes but the downside especially on a black car with it sitting in the heat you may get the wax melting and seeping (This is commonly seen on the rear quarters at the bumper on MK1 TT's).
