  • Full Paint Correction on an E60 BMW 5 Series

]Done this awhile ago for my mate, its a lovely e60 520 D

    When it came in

Being Black it was covered in Tar which was hard to see along with lots of flies and road grime[/B]

So rotten enough and it was swirled to bits id say its was thru a machine wash weekly,

So it was washed (2 bucket method) De-tarred washed again and then onto the Claying.....

This was the Clay of choice, Dodo juice Super natural and Born Slippy Lube

It was Pretty bad all over

After that it was washed again to remove clay residue and dried with a Large plush microfiber drying towel,

Then into the Garage for a look under the Lights....

ooooh Noooo........ Swirled very badly black BMW Paint, (at this point i knew my arms were going to be sore that night)

    More Swirls

After 2 passes with a Hexlogic Heavy Cut Pad and Menzerna heavy cut polish,

Some 50/50 shots on the Bonnet

So the correction was going Great and only slight micro marring was left form the heavey cut polishes and pads, so i then moved onto a medium cut pad and menzena final finish 2, this removed the rest of the small marks in the paint,

Finished off with Final finish and a Black hexlogic finishing pad,

now for the important bit LSP

or Last stage protection, since this guy was a "perfectionist" he had a Concurs winning 94' Escort cosworth which he just sold, i used some top Wax on this car

Wax of Choice, Swissvax Onyx (Brilliant Stuff)

    Finished Pic's

I was happy with the results i got a near perfect finish on this car and brought its dull paint back to life!

    Some Nice reflection shots

    Rear Quarter

    Rear Passenger Door

2 days Hard graft and she was new again,

-Wheels Treated with autosmart wheel cleaner, and sealed with Jetseal 109
-Tyres dressed with Meguires Tyre Gel
    -Trim treated with Black Wow
-All Door shuts, boot and bonnet gaps cleaned with Autosmart APC and polished
-headlamps and Tail lamps polished with megs Plastx

    Thanks for looking

Awesome work! Man, what is it with newer Black BMWs? I had a very similar experience with an E-90 3-series. This was by far the worst car ive done, which is surprising considering its age. Client opted out for a full paint correction, it didnt fit his budget so I sorted him out with a "daily driver finish" at about 75% correction.

            Heres the victim...

            50/50 on the hood

More paint abuse on the fenders

Again, the finished product is far from perfect... but its alot less of a disaster now haha.

Nice work there Jason It came up well, What products did you use?? its all down to how the owners wash their vehicles drive thru wash's are death to paintwork.. that BMW i done was washed in 1 every sunday by a middle aged man who thought he was doing good by keeping it clean.. then my buddy bought it from him.. ive had some worse cars than that in.. Had a brand new VW Sirrocco in that had maybe 5/6k on it and the lady used a pan scrubber to remove Tar buildup...

I had to Wetsand 60% of the car to remove the damage she caused before a pretty intense polish to restore Gloss to it, Never again

I have a very swirly infiniti with the "Midnight Mocha" paint. I'd love to get rid of them but do not trust myself to try to do it. any suggestions where to take it in the city and what it might cost?

I find most of my clients caused damage to their car out of best interest. Unfortunately wanting to keep your ride clean paired with very little knowledge about paint finishes and how to properly care for them leads to these situations. I dont know the story behind that 3-series as the owner had just purchased it. But I had a client with an S5 once that was a year old (I believe it hasd around 20 or 30 000kms). Her husband bought her a seasons pass at one of those Petro Canada washes, and she took it through multiple times a week.

As far as products go, I use the Meguires line and the 3M Perfect-it line of products. Unfortunately I dont remember which one specifically I used on that E90 in particular.

Ive always wondered how this would come out if it was done on my old Honda.. does anyone want to have a go as a case study? I can provide a free case of beer.

you'd probably be shocked by the results on an old honda, i did a power paint correction on my dads old 1969 work truck and it looks like a completely different truck now.

Haha this is actually my friend's car. I'm not really sure why that car had such horrible paint but he bought it like that. I believe he got it for a steal of a deal (figures why) and he wanted that exact car at the time. It was in horrible shape so he asked me if I knew anyone that can correct the paint finish so I sent him to Jason. As he said though, it was only a 75% correction as he was on a budget and that poor BMW paint was so far gone. Anyway thanks to Jason the car looks much better now and is being taken care of, garage parked and mostly only driven in summer.
