  • What DD should I get next?

So here is the current situation

The old A4 had some oiling issues on a -40C day last winter and since then I pretty much said no mas for any repairs. Didn't think it would make it through this winter but the old girl did and is now on its final death march.

What to replace it with has me confuzzed.

    Options
#1 Wife is not working as she is staying home with Kidlet #2 so no new car yet but i could buy something super cheap to tide me over a year or two then buy something new when she goes back to work.

#2 Could buy a decent car that i like just not something new and keep it for a while but this would cut into my current seasons racing budget.

I drive on average 50km a month (That's not a typo) I drive 4 blocks to work each day then on the weekends we take the minivan anywhere so we can fit the kids. If buying a nicer car it would have to fit a kid or 2 so i could use it on weekends. (Wagon?)

    Needs/Wants
Manual Prefered - Auto only if its a nicer car
AWD or RWD - NO FWD
    Wagons welcome
    NO SUV's or Trucks

    Cars I have thought about
Subaru Impreza - Drunk owner pricing
VW R32 - See Subaru owners
    Audi A4 - don't know if i want another
BMW 3Touring - A little more than i am looking to spend right now
    ?

Price range 10K-20K depending on what option we are going with.

Let me know of some other cars i might be missing as right now i am drawing a blank.

You could satisfy #1 and #2 and buy my allroad . Cheap, wagon, fun, etc...

    Good luck in the search

B5S4 Avant. I hear they are very reliable.....

Haha in all seriousness, have you considered volvo wagons? I know those V70R's are fun, not sure about the pricing on them though.

RS4 aren't they available for import now?

How bout a b8 tip wagon? seem to be a little higher on the range, but doable.

A couple years ago i was seriously looking at one it was only the interior console that bugged me all the 10 000 little buttons everywhere. Will take a look and see what they are going for.

You think you could find a B8 Avant for under 20K?

              Tough, but I think
It's doable. I was considering one instead of my car and they were just out of my range at 22-24ish. That was back in September. Might be able to find one with just over 100k?

With a wife and 2 kids and racing as a hobby i don't have the available hours to fix all the little things a 2.7 requires weekly.

There are a couple of E55 AMGs on Kijiji that's selling for around 15K. Granted they are higher mileage, but it'll definitely be a fun car that'll fit the whole family

Ultimate awd wagon would be the b5 rs4 but i have had much better luck with the 2.7 so leave that one to me.

What about C6 A6 lots available in that price range. Ticks all your boxes and would be great family car.

The Facelift C6 had the 3.0TFSI Supercharged.

Somebody get this man a bicycle.

In my books a 2013 Sienna would be a "new car". So why don't you fix the A4 enough to squeeze a couple more years out of it until your wife goes back to work? By then your Sienna will be running out of warranty and you can better justify a new car.

I am pretty sure the 3.0 is the Carbon king when it comes to Audi Engines mroe than one mechanic has told me never to buy one.

Also not a A6 fan for some reason.

During the summer it rains everyday at 4pm in Sylvan it's almost like clockwork not riding home in the rain. Plus i am to old for that **** and want to increase my carbon footprint as much as possible to kill the hippies.

The Sienna is the wife's car and for the amount we paid for that she will be driving it until she or it dies. The A4 would probably need a new motor plus a bunch of other little things to scrape it along. It would be cheaper just to buy junkers over the next couple years rather than repair it.

If I am getting a decent car that i plan to keep for a while it needs to be around the 100K km mark not 200K.
