    Re: Anyone drive a C30?

There is a good Canadian source for aftermarket parts, EuroSport Tuning. They sell RICA tunes, which are slightly more conservative, but also seem very reliable. I think of it as the APR of Volvo.

I prefer the VW steering, but the C30/S40 (nearly the same car) are actually decently fun to throw around. Quirky interiors that some (including me) actually like quite a bit. Not as refined as a VW/Audi, but some cool design features.

The T5 engine is fantastic. Rock solid, actually sounds pretty cool (this from a guy who drove a V8 S4 before...). Working on them is about a billion times easier than my Audi was, and parts are cheaper.

All in all, a pretty good city/commuter car that's still a bit of fun. Very reliable.

Oh, the auto in those cars sucks. Get a manual. It's actually a pretty nice transmission.

Just to bump this up a little bit. Here's a few pictures of my C30 R-Design. Feel free to give it a test drive if you're still interested in a c30.

The C30 doesn't have an LSD. It'll scoot to 60 quicker than the GTI but for whatever reason I find it a little less fun to drive. Many automotive journalists have said the same, though they offer better explanations than I do. They're quite moddable, Polestar is a factory warrantied tune that will get you to 250HP and 273lb/foot. It'll run you about $1,100 and is warranty approved. You're looking at about 5.9 seconds to 60 with the tune and a 6 speed. With the Polestar tune you aren't able to mod as much elsewhere, you can do a cat-back exhaust but that's about it. If keeping your warranty isn't a concern, then I'd take a look at Elevate (http://elevatecars.com/c30/engine-performance). A guy on c30crew.com just did a K16 swap and is a little over 300WHP. I'm very, very happy with mine. Absolutely no problems in my 8 months of ownership.
