Yea, I was warned the mouse wasn't very good. I don't mind it, like you said, if I was going to do a lot of surfing i'd need a real mouse. It's a shame they didn't put a trackball or something on it. Having all the stuff I need on one "remote" though made it worth it, especially since this is in our sitting area.

Now I just need a decent looking case and I'm done. Then to start shopping for a Mac to put in the office area.

well I returned the kit and just bough the capture card and got the OEM IR unit instead and worked perfectly. Ended up buying the keyboard too, I'll give it a try and see how I like it.

It's nice being able to watch tv, pause, record surf the web all on one tv. Works great on the new Samsung.

Stick with the old faithful unit, I have been using MCE 2005 for over a couple years now and I really like it. I'm not a huge fan of Mac, but my experience is also quite limited.
Well I think the Hauppauge card will be fine (that's what I currently have) but it's bundled (same box) with an SMK IR Remote. I'm going to get the OEM remote at lunch and try it. If it works then I'll just return the kit and re-purchase just the PVR card.

    Capture Card question

Hey all, after several nights trying to get my IR device working for my Windows Media center I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time.

The issue I'm having is that I just cannot configure drivers for the IR device, I have a Media center 2005 with rollup 2, the latest .net etc. When you plug it in (USB) it trys to configure the new hardware but after searching for drivers just simply says "cannot configure". The remote works but when I try to go through the MCE setup it gets to the IR setup and says "could not locate IR device" for those of you with MCE you know that I'm dead in the water at this point as my only option is to cancel the setup. I've tried to just stick the eHome drivers in but that didn't work either.

I have the Haupauge PVR150 with the included remote and IR blaster, anyone use this? I'm thinking of returning it and just getting the card and buying the windows OEM IR unit. As mentioned I should have all the latest updates, I know I need a new Vid card before I can run it properly but that shouldn't matter for the USB IR blaster.

Also, kind of unrelated but does MAC do something like this on any of their machines? I've been going back and forth on whether I should try to get this older PC running or if I should just go out and buy a new PC.
