haha, the way I read his initial post I understood it to mean that 'it doesnt matter what car you have, just that you love cars" (more or less)

..I was just looking for an excuse to flaunt my excessively large manhood on the internet

who cares how much your car costs.. i love eurodrivers because we founded this club on a great place to make life long friendships, hang out, BS and just be yourself..
we have members that don't even own euros anymore like chad but he still comes out to meets and events because he's made friendships and thats what counts!

who cares if you drive a rusted out mk1, 911 turbo, rs4 or mk4 gti,etc.. we all have the same passion for our cars..

I really really like this comment because it applies to me a lot. As some people know I was heavily involved in the calgary volvo club. Over there though there were about 6 people who post on the forums, 2 make random useless comments, while 3 others critizise everyone else and then theres the one guy who posts all of his amazing work on his car.

I am almost completely detached from that board because I felt that when you go to a meet then it ends up everyone telling you what you shouldn't do, can't do and it just wasn't a positive atmosphere for me.

I love coming out for eurodrivers cruises (the meets don't fit my time schedule right now), everyone is out there to have fun. You can drive how you want and you aren't penalized for it, and people are genuinely interested in what you drive and what kind of work you are doing on your car weither it is just maintence or performance. It sucks though when people are stereotyped or blacklisted by other people when they dont even know them and I dont think that really provides a positive atmosphere for new members.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that i've had a fairly positive experience thus far and it sucks when people aren't having the same.

Does the Porsche manual tell you how to ask for Grey Puppon?

Obsequious??? I should sell my Porsche right now because I have no idea what that means!!!! Ha Ha!!! Lets all get a long fellas. I think the one sentence that probably made people ruffle their feathers was the loser comment. I'm sure he didn't really mean it as such but I'm sure he gets the whole "must have come from a rich family" owning a car like that. Kudos to you for working hard and obtaining your dream car!!!

    Derek

    P.S. i want a ride!!!

    Whoah! Drama indeed.

I understand the point Vic is trying to make perfectly. Not sure why it's being so easily misconstrued? High-end and exotic cars = a higher profile for the club. Seems logical to me.

That isn't to say that anyone without an expensive car is any "lesser" of a member (except for Bart). That's what's so great about this club - we have a rich diversity of cars ranging from MK1 VW's to Audis, to Porsches, to BMW's and everyone appreciates them all.

I just see this as an example of how a comment made on a forum was taken the wrong way. As with Brent's joke about there being 3 Porsches showing up to meets, things need to be taken with a grain of salt and not so personally. When I read Brent's post I didn't log onto Rennlist immediately and post a rant about it to seek solace from the Porsche brethren. I only do that when Bart tells me his car is faster than mine.

I also don't think Vic fits the typical "Lambo owner" stereotype, either. How many Lambo owners happily lend their car out for a weekend while they're out of town? (When I asked another Lambo owner to borrow his car for a weekend he immediately punched me in the face with his fist clenched around a wad of money.)

If you had a chance to chat to him at the meet a while back you would have discovered that he's just a regular guy who happens to have a passion for Euros just as we all do. The fact that he sought us out and wants to be part of the Eurodrivers community is a testament to that.

And as a final note, I'm sure some people will read this and think that I am just being obsequious, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Anyone with an exotic - Lambo or otherwise - is welcome to piss anywhere they want in my house just so long as I get a ride in their car.
