Re: Pioneer Avic series headunit upgrade

*Update: the DATA.ZIP available from my site @ http://atomic.speculation.org/Blog/2...F700BT+Upgrade has a new button to disable the audio guidance for GPS. so you can mute the dude and not have to listen to him talk anymore.

boot using TESTMODE and copy my DATA.ZIP to your AP2\iGo folder

it's good for long distance highway driving. so u don't have to hear him say "in 100 meters, keep right"... "in 50 meters, keep right", etc etc

oh the unit MUST MUST MUST be able to change colors and match audi red or i toss it out the window onto deerfoot
I bought a x710bt off e-bay yesterday for the car, will need to do a trim piece for it, otherwise it should be good.

ryan. make sure you get an Avic f700bt .. it's pretty awesome deal and the screen size is wicked over the newer ones. i'll help u upgrade to 3 point ooooooh.. it'll get you laid
did the upgrade, was a little confusing, couldn't get the wince image to load.
Not sure if I needed to, but upgrade didn't really work until the truck was started up. Big hands don't help much either trying to press all those buttons at once.

Had to use a toothpick on the touchscreen when copying files.

    some notes:
step 4, my deck wouldn't make the pop noise, so I just waited 10 - 15sec before letting go of the eject and reset.
The blue screen asks to press the reset button again(don't press), and this is where the service combo needed to be entered
[edit: let go of the reset button first, then eject button << this seems to be the proper sequence)

step 6 - select the first option (I re-read instructions a few times before deciding which option)

step 13 - "reset" button not restart

    - used 2 SD cards, card 1 with wince update, card 2 with flashdisk, testmode, and modified data.zip

now to add some of the other little features that were done before...

    Thanks again

do these decks still have separate brains? my old avic-n1 i had to tear the entire interior out of my mk4 jetta to install it.. and mounted the brain in the trunk.. that deck kicked ass at the time.. 2600 later LOL
i don't know anythings about the n1. maybe it's amazing and u won't need your wife anymore. but without nav, u'll regret it! i have a no-nav in my svtf and i regret it. i cried once.

they don't have a seperate brain. they are double din, and not as long as a regular deck. lots of wires out the back though. video and audio and microphone and usb and butts.

the customiziabilibilibity of the F series (that's all i'm familuar with) is great. have you looked on the ebays to see prices of some F serieseses? compared ot the N1?
