It's a yearly thing. Starts up in 3 weeks actually.
Usually it's more of a love-fest, maybe why it slipped under your radar?
I visit that city a few times each year. Love Vancouver to visit.Originally posted by RONDAL View Postif you want to be ignorant about it and not visit the city fine by me..
The Olympics were a statistical anamoly, with more foreigners & heavy policing.
Like I said before, Vancouver has a grossly disproportionate amount of classless fans compared to other North American cities. It's proven over & over again.Last edited by cam_wmh; 06-20-2011, 04:49 PM.

Re: Y U mad Vancouver?
Calgary has shitty people just the same as Vancouver has shitty people, New York has shitty people and London has shitty people. It's shitty people that do the kinds of things that happened.
If you want to let a small handful of them define a city go for it.

Your point did more to demonstrate it's exclusive to Vancouver, and Calgary can handle having 1 million Stampede visitors, with small isolated incidents.
Yep, small isolated incidents.
Proportion & scale, .. man.
Vancouver has hosted hundreds of events since '94 without incident, including 10 days of the olympics with basically no incidents aside from the organized march outside the bay. if you want to be ignorant about it and not visit the city fine by me.

Re: Y U mad Vancouver?
I think this is a much greater problem, than just vancouver. It is a much more important generational issue. People just don't have respect for other people, nor their belongings. No need to bash on Van or say that Calgary is superior.
I refuse, absolutely refuse to believe that you never made a stupid choice when you were young, and luckily weren't caught doing it (especially those who went to Post-Secondary). Now there could be an order of magnitude of difference between your mistake and looting. But there was also an order of magnitude between the envrionment you were in, and this envrionment.
Lighting a police car on fire, smashing windows, beating a fan, should equal prison time. There is no time or space, where you can construe a reality where that is acceptable. None.
What we don't need is some twat playing for Canada on an Olympic stage who was in the riot. You know full well, the second he takes to the water all we are going to hear is "#25 for Canada was convicted of lighting a police car on fire."
Stealing a teddy bear from the Bay, if you turn yourself in, and return the item, I would give them a hefty fine and let them move on with their lives. If you do not turn yourself in within a timely manner, well then I hope you get your **** destroyed.
Also this facebook page is getting out of control. It is more of a mob than the riot. With much larger consequences.

LOL and then theres the people that just follow the crowd and take pictures of stab victims.
as far as im concerned if youre on the streets following the crowd, youre apart and encouraging the riot.

Unfortunately, that club has a grossly disproportionate amount of classless fans. Rioting is not new to that city. Every Stanley Cup Final (82, 94, 11), GnR concert, etc; It's a cultural problem, and it certainly is not limited to 100 fans, as exemplified by the countless videos out there.

Re: Y U mad Vancouver?
we were right near the library about a half block from Canada post when the first car was flipped. It was losers who had just driven down who were coaxing the crowd to flip their own shitty truck. That was the catalyst that was needed.
I'm just happy to see the kids getting arrested.
The loser asian doing the this is sparta move with the hockey stick was arrested at school in richmond Friday and was expelled on the spot. Will have to go elsewhere to redo grade 12.
The kid lighting the cop car on fire is on a full ride scholarship at UofC and an Olympic hopeful for waterpolo. UofC is apparently looking to expell him on moral grounds, and he's been booted off his waterpolo team.
The fat **** who beat a fireman with a bag of liquor bottles was found by Langley RCMP yesterday and had already had been beaten pretty bad.
In a country where our judicial system is a bit of a joke especially on petty matters, i have no problem with the public shame and humiliation thats going on. These assholes chose to try and hide in a crowd to commit their crimes. I wanna know who the pricks are that destroyed my city, so if i ever come across them i know. I dont want them having a juvi record that gets expounged after 5 years
