Re: Eurodrivers Official Cellphone Poll
Funny, enbridge just bought lots of their employees iPads so that they could work on the road easily...... Not play books. iPads.

May I ask what you see that the market doesn't? Did you look at the 6 month, 1 yr, and 3 yr stock performances, on that bloompig link?
I'm first-hand seeing big corporate moving away from RIM, to appease their users on a massive scale.

Re: Eurodrivers Official Cellphone Poll
I do not think of the blackberry to be first smart phone. It has email and a browser. My shitty Mike phone has those capabilities.
iPhone changed the whole game and blackberry did nothing but hold on. Relying upon sheep like you to fall back upon, clutching to the 'Business Market'.
They are a shitty setup, no one wants these phones, they are slow, archaic, unreliable, and big. iPhone and 'Droid are the way of the future.

Re: Eurodrivers Official Cellphone Poll
unless they make some MAJOR announcements for futuristic phones at their yearly event in about a week i dont even think you'll need to wait a year. The new phones will make or break the company.Originally posted by MechEngg View PostI will bump this thread in a year or so when everything is normal again, til then i will just wait to say i told you so
I'm not expecting anything earth shattering. RIM has stagnated. You can fanboi blackberry all you want but whether its market analysts, the general public or corporations everyone is looking the other way from RIM products.

Yeah you really get used to it, sometimes though that damn autocorrect bites you in the ass though..... I came from an LG Rumor which had a slide out keypad, I didn't like the iPhone at first, but now I'm on my second iPhone and I wouldn't have anything else.Originally posted by CGDoig View PostYeah, I can type without looking on my iphone and pad. Re: Eurodrivers Official Cellphone Poll
i was a blackberry nut last year before the iPhone4 came out. I had the same idea as you about the physical keyboard on a smart phone, but after about 1 week of using the iphone4 touch keyboard, i was typing almost double the speed then on the blackberry...... I had to take the iPhone in for service last week for a day and used my blackberry 9700 for the day and WOW, what a POS after using the iPhone for a year....... same thing goes for the iPad. I can type just as fast on the iPad as i can on a standard keyboard. its all about practice daniel son.
Canadian companies that make telecom products always eventually fail. RIM had a good run, soon they will be Nortel

lol. RIM is in freefall.Originally posted by MechEngg View PostBlackberries are what people think of when they think of the "original" smart phone, and yes the iphone is newer. Doesn't mean that i am behind the times at all, business owners all around the world still use blackberry and honestly i don't think that it will change in the next 10 years. This is the same situation people were talking about when apple fanboys said that the macs would phase out microsoft. It just wont happen due to the fact that the industry has been using them forever, that is what they are most familiar with and some programs (essential to some businesses) can only be run on the current platform.
And as for phasing out keyboards?? really? Have you tried to type on a ipad? it is retarded. Secretaries/anyone who can type at all on a computer will be harmed with only touch screen keyboards. I can type ~60 words per minute on a keyboard and about 6 on a touchscreen. Now tell me that it won't negatively impact businesses....
So honestly these are my opinions:
- blackberry will be just fine, they will lose some customers to all the other phones coming out but will still retain most of their customers
- keyboards will stay as cheap accessories for a computer/laptop. There will be an OPTION to get a touchscreen one but the keyboard will come standard with a computer.
- They will start to offer phones with touchscreen and phones with buttons. The same model but with two different options to suit peoples wants.

the amount of bitching and complaining last week alone due to the outages literally stopped business for some people. we were stuck in court with no ability to communicate with the office and get information. That starts costing you a LOT of money.
Switching cell phones is not a big deal for companies. Enterprise servers while nice are not hard to replicate, plus you're not tied to shitty stuff that goes down.
I bet RIM isn't even around in 1 year let alone 10.
as for keyboards; people will adapt. they make a bigger deal about them than they are. you use an iphone for a week you'll be typing fine without issue. Trying it ofr 30 seconds and saying its too hard isn't a realistic example. When you switch keyboard cell phones you have the same issue with keys being different sizes and not typing as quick.Last edited by RONDAL; 10-17-2011, 10:43 PM.
