Re: 1999 Audi S3
If you can wait a little longer I bet you'll be able to find a gt or GLS with a 6 speed too.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
You can fit so many cars in a container, best way to ship....
Jeremy I would love a TT, although the financial portion does not make sense unless you find one with a blown engine for dirt cheap. To easy to get a 2 door MK4 4motion golf TDi from Europe next year that I just have to turn the key.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
It's just the individual cars you were driving - the base MKIVs all have the same chassis, wheelbase, suspension, steering, and even bushings. There's nothing in there to make one 'tighter' than another. That said, the R32, TT, and S3 are pretty decent jumps up in 'tightness': IRS, lower-ratio rack, better suspension geometry/components/bushings, etc. If you really want a tight ride, get Delrin bushings (nearly as little deflection as spherical bearings, but waaay more reliable for street cars) for your control arms, and a good performance alignment. Poly is a more widespread alternative, albeit somewhat inferior to Delrin.Originally posted by dJ View PostDamn lol...meh..I still would rather have the Golf 4 motion TDI. I've always found the Golf to have a tighter feel than the Jetta.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
Do you guys all need backseats or something? If not, just get a TT - same engine, chassis, drivetrain, and better (than other MKIVs) brakes and suspension geometry. Plus, it's prettier
I'm probably alone on this one, but I'd also rather have an R32 chassis with a 1.8T/TDI in it than an S3.
Ben, why in hell have you not bought a TT and dropped your engine in? It's really a very simple swap! I still often regret choosing to build the 1.8T instead of dropping a TDI in...Last edited by cheeba; 12-07-2012, 02:08 PM.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
I would love one too. They'll be cheap enough to justify the shipping and import costs too.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
Get me a 1999 golf 4motion tdi and I will be happy. Everything from my current setup will transfer over except the down pipe and maybe the clutch, but all the fun parts will go over. I don't know if I can wait a year though, you can find audi A4 1.9 tdi wagons w/quattro in Ontario being sold already. If somebody wanted to go over and start exporting TDi's I am sure you could easily make some money on the side. There is a demand and they will sell with the right advertisement to the correct crowds. I would gladly help import European TDi's that are 15 years old, although LHD will sell better and quicker then a RHD.

Re: 1999 Audi S3
I saw a 3 door TDI early A3 yesterday a couple blocks away from my place, still prefer the S3 though.
