The cave is small, it has a several "rooms". It takes about 5 minutes to go the end and back. It's cool but not that exciting. The Canmore folk use it as a summer party cave so sometimes there is trashed furniture and TV's and stuff. Been up to it a few times.

You probably mean this cave: http://www.braggcreek.ca/kananaskis/icecave.htm , http://hikingwithbarry.com/2010/04/3...93-june-5-2008

i have been biking up there in the past. it would be a very long hike without a bicycle.

Talked to a couple of my friends and they are definitely interested. If it doesn't rain we will be there on Saturday. I will definitely post some pictures after the weekend.

you dont want a narrow beam, you want wide throw. narrow beam doesn't illuminate the spaces and is similiar to a hiking headlamp. bring a lantern so you really get the full effect of whats going on and bearings.

    Re: The Vaults

went out there two years ago. easy hike to get to and find.
you need lights though, and more than 1. all i had was a small headlamp and it wasn't really enough. we didn't venture too far in as we didn't have enough light to really illuminate space, and you get a little concerned about getting lost if you can't see to get your bearings.

ideally you want one of those mega big flashlights, or a lantern that throws a lot of light. a small hiking headlamp just isn't enough.

A few friends went out there last week, said it was kinda cool, they mentioned to bring a flash light so you can go in deep.
