Alrighty, wasn't sure how much a new FW would cost but figured the recon'd clutch would be a nice upgrade for cheaper than new.

Interesting... any idea on cost of this vs new?

One little-known fact is that Southbend has an exchange program - if you send them a used OE clutch, you can get a new clutch back for REALLY cheap. Like under $200 for their stage 4/5 clutches. This applies to UrS-fitment clutches, not sure about other applications.

The UrS clutches are for 01e transmissions, which are fundamentally similar to (at least) the early 01a... the FW was the biggest difference between them (individual gear ratios, and gear/mainshaft strength aside).

Not sure if you know, but Southbend has an OE clutch refurb/core-exchange thing for about half that cost. Edmonton Brake and Clutch does the same thing too, offering slight upgrades in friction face material for not much more...

But then you'd still need to find a FW. Happen to know if any other cars use the same model? I might have access to a 2.7tt FW that's in good shape.

I just hate how they don't have an instant shipping calculator and i found their shipping to be expensive. You don't know what shipping will be until after you order, then they email you with the shipping price and ask you to confirm. I ordered $200 of gaskets, spark plugs, small maintenance stuff and it cost me $50 shipping.

so have many of you ordered anything from german auto parts (GAP) before? specifically, i'm looking at this for my 3.0 a4 as my flywheel sh!t the bed. never had much experience buying audi stuff and i'd prefer to buy locally if it comes in at around the same price.
