    For sure. Especially with companies now having the pick of whoever they like, not just locally but from international markets now too.

    Stick at it. I started my degree in my mid early 20s and stuck with it. Happy i made that decision instead of changing or dropping out. Although now there are no jobs in Australia so i'm here...

    Makes me feel like my degree will be worthless! I'm not exactly the best student. Nor do I take a ton of initiative.

    I found about 20 companies looking for geology interns this summer, and none of them called me back. It's really hard to get in, and my marks aren't poor by any means. If you can get the geology job, do it! I was "lucky" enough to get a job with the U of C as a hydrogeology research assistant. Anything related looks good on the post undergraduate resume.

    Contrary to popular belief, you don't just walk into a geology job anymore like the old days.

    i did this when i was younger.. was a wash monkey, helped techs with random stuff, drove customers downtown or shuttle cars to peoples homes,etc

    it was fun and got to drive a lot of cars too

    It depends if you're looking to get into sales or service. I can see there being potential opportunities in service (detailer, shuttle driver etc) but not in sales as in sales you have to be available any time for a customer meeting or delivery.
