Yeah I don't even know who else has a tune out for the mk7 but **** a stage 1 would be more than enough for me in a little car like that.. Exhaust, intake, bags, wheels, tune, boom. Guess it kinda takes the fun out of building something when vw makes it so easy to make a GTI fast lol
If we are still on the subject of clear coat, the hardness/thickness of the clear depends on the shop doing the respray/manufacturer of the paint/the painter's personal preference in terms of how to mix the clear.
Usually straight time, high end shops (Cosmos, Contemporary Coachworks, etc..) will spray more clear because they are more concerned about doing good work than they are with banging out jobs quickly like flat rate guys tend to be.
Many variables to consider. As for manufacturer clear, I'm not sure. I'm sure the higher end the car the better the finish is bound to be.
