Lol, yes they are owned by Lays/Pepsi but were originally an independent English company. They have a flavour vote going on at the moment and this is what we have to choose from:



Back to the original point, some of us older guys call tuning chips as we were used to the old school method of actually removing a chip from the ECU board and loading the program directly on then returning it to the ECU or even getting a new chip all together as was the case for my MK3 Jetta GLX.

Holy crap. That's some nasty hail... Insurance covering it?

Just found out last night that insurance is covering both. Hail was an estimated $17,000 to fix and the skunk was around $4,800 so they are totalling the car and reimbursting my dad $X amount. He has to spend a few grand and has ordered a brand new one as of this morning, so a few model years newer and in the same color. He had the seats all done up in perforated leather on the wrecked car so they are swapping the seats around for him as well.

Saw friend's cars and house after that hail storm. It wasn't pretty. Vinyl siding sucks. Go for Hardie Board

Hardie board is what we just used this past winter for our cabin renovations, definitely some good stuff until you get a howling wind ripping between the houses and the bottom of the boards starts to vibrate a bit. The wind down by lethbridge is brutal, right next to the biggest wind farm in western canada now haha

Its not that the paint process is shitty, its the hardness of the paint. Its soft as hell, makes for awesome before/after detailing shots as they get FUBARED with swirls within 5 years and you can correct it effortlessly.

Not just Subaru paint though, most Japanese paint tends to be soft.. while most Mercedes paint is stupid hard. Oddly enough it also varies model to model, for example some of the shittiest paint ever is the R35 GT-Rs, heard a few stories of rock chips appearing after the drive home from the dealer... VAG paint is the perfect balance of soft and hard IMHO

The R35 actually gets chips from body panels rubbing together. And if you winter drive them they rust to hell very quickly.

Anyways thanks for bringing up the Subaru paint issues, never was aware of their crappy paint until this thread. Typically i thought the OEM painting process was far far superior than any aftermarket re-spraying, how does Subaru's paint hold up against say a good aftermarket paint job? Are a lot of Subaru owners fixing shitty OEM paint within the first few years or is it say 15 years down the road?
