  • New Wheels - Pics Thread

    Ladies, gents.

    I bought some new shoes.

What do you think of the new look?

Initial impressions of the new rubber are very favourable, considerable grip during multiple lane change manouvers and long sweeping corners in the wet at sustained high speeds. Turn in is solid if not sharp, and though noise is higher than the Potenza RE050A Pole Positions they replaced it's not uncomfortable. Only ~250 km on them so until they get another 550 km or so they won't see any sustained high speed, braking or hard cornering.

So far though, I'd recommend the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec without hesitation.

I could swear I saw your car in my parkade. Do you live on 17th?

NM I see "Edmonton" in profile. But someone in my parkade has those wheels on their black B6 A4

love the rims, but that thing has more ground clearence than most trucks!

        definetly needs more low.

Latey I have become a huge fan of flush wheels with lots of spokes, so these are simple and classy.
I hate to jump on the bandwagon but drop that thing!

Kor: I used to live in Calgary and had the privilege of parking in some friend's underground spots now and again, but for the most part I was gypsy parking streetside at broken meters. And back then I was rolling on OEM 5-spokes. And it's very Moro Blue, not black.

            I'll drop it eventually guys.

I do have a full time project car in the midst of a suspension restoration... [ahem] so my daily driver is lucky to get a new pair of shoes let alone fuel and an oil change! haha (j/k) I'll be doing a rear sway bar first, test pipe, HIDs, an aluminum (Panzer) skid plate, and then brakes before I spring for some Konis or Vogtlands. And to be honest, I'll probably tint it first too.

I've been wanting this look for a long time. Makes it okay to rock the unpainted lowers... haha. I watched used wheels for almost two years and narrowed it down to five based on price and look for summer wheels I can use as winters later down the line: BBS CH, Oettengier RE, OEM Audi Titanium pkg., OEM Audi RS6 or OZ Superturismo LM. My initial guess is about 8mm in the rear and 5mm up front? I'd love to have the wheels flush with the fenders.

                HAHAHAHA

I actually LOLd in RL at that.

And inserted it into my AZ thread to make fun of the haters... and thanks for the compliment too.

Suspension will come, but it's down to priorities. First things first, right?

Is it just me, or don't the weaksauce brakes stick out the most? Maybe it's cause I'm a little leery of slamming a car with no skid plate with our roads + winters. FTR, I don't shy away from gravel or forestry trunk roads or township and range roads... summer or winter.

Well I'm not much for "slamming" cars, 1.5"-2" drop would make it look much better and still give you decent clearance I'm sure. For driving in the winter get some coilovers with a good adjustability range for sure, one of the reasons I chose the Vogtland's for my car. Those big ice chunks on the road can really ruin your day.

If it is driven in the winter, leave the stance alone. What good is quattro if you get high centered? Wheels look great. I don't mind the gap.

You can totally drive the car in the winter with a 2" drop. Wheels look nice but the height ruins it for me!
