  • My experience with Cosmos

So, I've heard nothing but great things about Cosmos so where else would I take my q5 after getting rear ended?

The first issue was the fact that they called me twice asking me for the insurance claim number saying they don't have an approved estimate yet. This was frustrating but not a huge deal.

Dropped the car off on Monday the 30th, and Ken let me know it should be done that Thursday barring any hidden damage, which was great. Friday rolls around, and I call the office to see what's up. The receptionist answers, and has no information for me, but says she'll have someone call me back within the hour. 3 hours later I call again and she tells me they JUST received the parts, so they'll be prepped Monday painted Tuesday and installed Wednesday. Why did I drop my car off Monday when they hadn't received the parts yet?

Soo Wednesday rolls around, and once again I haven't received a call so I call in. This time Ken comes on and tells me they noticed one of my mufflers had a crack in it so they had to order that part too and it would be in on Thursday, installed and car would be ready.

FRIDAY rolls around and still no call. Again I call in and thankfully the car is being washed and will be ready for pickup.

Yesterday I'm loading something into the back, and realize the left exhaust tip is sticking out half an inch further than the right one, and is shaking pretty vigorously. I guess I will have to drop by the shop this week to see what they say.

The body work does look great, and the car was VERY clean, but if I didn't have a rental paid for by the other party's insurance co, I would have been VERY frustrated with the lack of updates. I never once received a call from the shop EVEN when they found more damage 6 days after they said the car would be done.

I dealt only with Ken, and he's great to deal with, but the service was a little substandard.

Will update this when I take the q5 back in this week.

Sorry to hear about the service you received Mitcheh. Definitely the exception, not the rule.
Definitely go back to Cosmos and talk to them. I would even voice your concerns to Loc... he'll make it right.

If he doesn't, let me know... I'll pay him a visit and give him a double-dose of WTF?

Thanks Deuce. I'm really hoping I don't get the run around or excuses here....

        Re: My experience with Cosmos

This is actually par for the course from what I'd experienced working at a dealership in Calgary, who used Cosmos for a lot of work. I noticed some pretty shiesty stuff going on with some high end luxury cars, but didn't feel it prudent to air such comments unless my dollars were on the line... or someone else's.

Sorry you had to go through this man but just take it back and make them make you happy, PITA though it is. Make sure they sand down any tape lines in the seams so their work is truly invisible down the road.

There isn't any seams as it was just a brand new bumper.

I did go back, ken looked at it and said I can drop it off any day this week and they'll re align the tips. He's definitely a stand up guy.

I worked with Loc directly in the past and he did take care of me. Yeah they do take their time on stuff but I like that about them, if its going to take an extra day, they just take the extra day... my expectations were set when I first dropped off the car.

That's good that they're dealing with you in a way that makes you feel satisfied. Mistakes happen. It's all about how they're dealt with that matters most.

For my money though, I'd go to Maranello's in Calgary, or Joey's Place in Edmonton. But I'm picky when it comes to body work (or any outsourced work, for that matter).

Last time I wanted a job done, going to Maranello's was like taking an 8 month break from your project....

Not sure if they are still that busy, but if so then no-thanks...

Of course someone did...Loc is highly respected here...and has been stand up about any mistakes and mix ups. He had my car for six weeks, but it came back perfect.

Went by yesterday to get a quote on respraying the Z3 front bumper (parking block intercourse) and talked to Loc. They have done my A4 and Passat in the past, wouldn't even consider going anywhere else.
