So when I popped off one of the side mirrors to add the dynamic turn signals, 3 of the clips on the mirror snapped! I was surprised on a new car on a warm day. Usually the plastic has some give. Result was a shaky mirror, and me thinking I was shelling out for a new one.
The mirror backing is ABS plastic, which is sort of a bugger to bond anything too. I fussed with some glues, with no luck. Nothing could give the tabs enough strength to re-clip without breaking again.
Then my girls jump in "Hey, doesn't our 3Doodler use ABS"

Why yes it does.... It melts ABS at just the right temperature, and uses ABS for 3D printing. It bonded instantly! Not pretty, but really, who cares... it is behind the mirror.



Tabs are reinforced and snapped back on to the car no prob. I was prying on them and they were as strong as the unbroken ones. hahah.

Hahaha! Amazing solution, yay for the kids lol.

Homelink mirror installed today!

One goofy issue so far. The driver personalization does not show driver name or allow you to change profiles in the instrument cluster when you start the car. It is supposed to show the programmed drivers for 10s at startup. I can see on youtube what it SHOULD look like, but I just have a blank where the driver names should be. Manual also confirms its is a thing.

Seems like something that should be easily enabled but I have not het found a setting. As it is not critical, I will probably have the dealer take a look once I have something else to take the car in for.

Anyone with this same setup know anything about this?

Got the winter tires on. I'm still waiting on some VW caps. I hope I ordered the right ones. Hard to find VW caps in an Audi bore diameter.



Quite mad at myself though. My rubber hockey puck/jack pad was not in place right and I put a small dent in the rocker. Totally invisible with the side skirts, but I know its there... Rookie maneuver!

Found some centre caps. They are not perfect, but pretty damn close. Good enough for winter wheels!

Euro rear fog light kit on route!

The above kit finally made it it. It was probably a half hour install to add the rear left euro fog option. Pretty easy peasy!

Finally got the car to greet me properly... The owners manual seemed to suggest this was supposed to be there by default, but is was not. I can now switch users on the steering wheel at start. Was an easy thing to enable in the end.

Does it change settings or anything?

HVAC, radio, drive assist, drive mode, car settings like ambient lighting...etc. It does not have any control over seats or mirrors.

The other one I'm trying to sort out is having it change profiles from kessy handle touch the same way my Audi did. It is almost the same, except the Audi would always change profiles when the handle was touched, and the VW only changed profiles if you unlock the door with a handle touch (won't change if car is unlocked).

Minor stuff. Just messing around, for the most part.

Apparently traffic sign detection also works, but it shows the icon on dash as a round euro speed sign. haha.
