I'm glad you took into consideration the engine type that each has....

On an inline 6 engine which is in the 335i, and you want high hp with decent drivability with twin charging i personally would go with a single larger turbo, fed by the SC. That way you are not going to go crazy breaking the tranny/gears by the instant jerk (the rate of acceleration) the car would receive from the torque that thing would provide at the low rpms. It would be an insane spike.

V engine configuration = twin turbo + supercharge
Inline engine = single turbo + supercharge.

        Are we in agreeance?

Why can't the inline engines have two turbos? Because the cylinders aren't split up?

They can, the N54 is an inline 6 twin turbo. But I think they're just stating the best setup to make big power when twin charging. It makes more sense to run a single BT on an inline since the manifold setup would be simpler/cheaper.

I was wondering the same thing. That's a steal of a deal for someone that can do the swap quickly/easily.

Is it not a sequential setup?

Bang on with the BT comment. V engines are a pain to single turbo because of the exhaust routing to get both sides of the engine to one turbo, inlines are difficult to twin turbo because everything is on one side and you've got to cram two separate turbos on one side of the engine bay.

Precisely. There are instances of course of twin turboing inline or VR6 engines (almost inline 6), for instance the HPA R32s are a prime example. However the addition of a supercharger means you need to think a bit more about it too, you don't want an instant 30psi boost at 1500rpm and a huge torque spike to shred your gears. Well at least i don't. Again it is usually people do a lot of research on before attempting.

Maybe I missed it but is there a link to these single big turbo's and twin turbo's and superchargers on Kijiji? After all, I thought this was a Kijiji find thread.....
