  • Pioneer avh p4000

Got this at Christmas, looking to upgrade to a DVD/Nav system.
It works great, will install for you if you like as well, and will provide the by pass relay so you don't have to use the ebrake input.

    $300
Current: Golf R and a corporate lease nobody cares about

So this one has a USB plug on the back so you can use a flash drive with it?

yah u can . i have this unit in one of my other cars . it works great .

if you don't need the navi, this is the unit to get. i also have the avic 700bt which is the navi that runs windows mobile, etc in the s4. and the avic doesn't like large meda storage (i.e. hard drive).

the p4000 doesn't mind a large media device. i currently use a 100 gb usb portable hard drive on the p4000. it reads the file index quick and the interface is easy to use. it uses filenames and your directory structure.

the avic uses id3 tags and therefore it's very very very slow. i had 10 gb of music on a 100 gb HD and it took approx 5 minutes to boot up. i almost got rid of the avic due to that reason. but then i purchased the ipod video adapter and i use my 120gb ipod. now it boots up in seconds because it rellies on the ipod's indexing engine.

i also have sat radio module and adapter installed on my p4000. the sirius module was about $80 and the pioneer input module was another $80. the sat radio interface on the p4000 is really crappy sadly and u will swear often when using it.

it also plays DVD video and will read music off dvd/cd's. where the most expensive AVIC line doesn't let you play dvd video until the 900 series.

$300 for that unit is a good deal if it's brand new. the avic line starts at a few hundred dollars more and doesn't have dvd video.

I'll post pics tomorrow at lunch, the relay will work on any car, but I need to keep the adaptor for my car.
