How are you orgainizing your music on your Phatnoise Phatty?

So she's here, 60 bucks to UPS's brokerage for 155 USD in merchandise...priceless. I really need to figure out how to specify my own broker..I know it can be done..but anyway onto the good stuff.

How is everyone structuring their playlists? I see the dynamic playlist creation in the Kenwood software, are you guys using that? If so, are you going by artist or album? Or are you just building your own willy nilly lists? I'm just wondering which one works better through the head unit for searchability.

Any help is great!

I just add all of the songs and browse by artist and album. I don't bother with playlists. (your ID3 tags have to be 100% consistent for this to be effective)

I took a little bit of time when I first set mine up. I edited all of the ID tags for 'genre' so that I could switch between rock, classics, hip-hop (for the wife ) etc. Then I created individual cds for each artist, that way I can still listen to one whole cd when I like. It took a while to set it up this way in the beginning, but now it is super easy to add stuff. All I do know is find the artists' cd on the phatbox and simply add the new songs to it. I also have 3 or 4 'misc' cds that contain about 100 songs each of my favorite stuff for random play.

Hope this helps, and trust me, if you take the time at the start it'll be much easier in the future.

Thanks...that's what I was thinking, that if I didn't have the CD's organized into playlists I'd go looney trying to find stuff.

Now I really want one. The Phats here in Edmonton, oh my Gawd the prices are nuts at the Dealerships. I was thinking if Westside could get me one for a good price I would get it.

I have just made sure all the songs have the proper Genre and listen to it by browsing Genre. Sometimes I make a playlist of new songs I like at that time. I just discovered how to scan fast through songs or genre names instead of pressing the forward button a hundred times.

just hold down the forward button when shipping tracks, you need to press and hold it before it starts a song. it goes quick without telling you what number it is at. The same for browsing artist/album/genre. Press and hold and it will go through by letter, then you can search through that particular letter. I like it because the paint was coming off my forward button.
