honestly, with the number of reasonable quality coilover kits out there these days, I would strongly recommend you just go that route. set the ride-height you want, you never need to adjust them if you don't want to. just throwing springs in means you still have the original shocks, which are a wear item. my 2 cents.

agreed^ Just springs will make the ride terrible. Get a spring/shock combo, or coilover's.

YA I know guys i had kw v3s on my evo x they were great coils. My R34 gtr has teins coils and they feel alright now but whem cold out they r terrible... To stiff, A4 is a DD so figured springs would do, all I need is get rid of a gap partially . My suspension is Already stiff as **** :/ in my audi. Is the ride quality really that bad with springs? I had spring on my evo and felt good not to stiff before coils but every car is different.

It isn't necessarily that the ride will be awful (and realistically it is always a matter of personal opinion anyways).
I reckon that if the car is a 2006, it has at least 100K KM on the clock. By that point, the shocks are on their way out, and adding the compression of a lowered spring to them is not going to help. Even if you do the work yourself, you are going to need an alignment, which is $100. If your shocks **** the bed within a year or two, you're out the cost of replacements, plus alignment again (and potentially labor). When I did the swap in my B7 Avant (now boldie's car), it was a no-brainer to just replace it all.

          Cheap: http://shop.solo-werks.com/solo-werk...t-2wd-quattro/
          Less Cheap: http://store.concept1.ca/ST-Coilover...ttro-ST-90605/
Even less cheap, but a really good deal: http://store.concept1.ca/KW-V1-Coilo...B7-KW10210030/

Also, the pinch bolt on your steering knuckles may be an absolute nightmare to get out, so be sure to read up on that.
