Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
I think south side is also an option worth discussing, as there is more room to park and also if the location chosen is close enough to the AH drive, then it probably won't take any longer for those on the NE, south, SW, (and possibly even west end, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove) to reach it.
It would also give access to a relatively non-congested roadway if anyone wanted to do a short cruise together without interruptions from traffic signals.
That being said, while a south side location works better for me personally, I think the downtown locations might be handier if weather changes force a retreat from the usual meeting location, as the secondary location would be close by.
Another noteworthy mention on the Moxie's location I had mentioned (Kingsway) that I did not previously think of, is that it gets VERY busy when CW stadium events take place. This is because it is a Park N Ride location. The wife found this out first-hand last night when she and her girlfriend went to a concert.

Coming in from Leduc, south side would be perfect for me.

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
I am just afraid Brewster location parking might not be as optimal because it will be tight when they get busy. South side may have a few good locations as well but I don't know what are people's thought on that?

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
On a Wendnesday the Red Robin downtown actually isn't too busy, that would probably be a good option for rain outs, plus its close to the sunny weather location. I'm all for breaking bread if it rains, it would force me to get to know people better as opposed to just oggling fancy new euro machinery!

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
I think the issue at hand is having an alternative plan/location for the meet when the weather turns bad so we can keep the meets going uninterrupted (like last night.) I don't think anyone is suggesting changing the location all together.
If we are considering food joints, Brewsters seems to be the logical location. It's not far from the original location, the parking lot is more than adequate to handle a few of our cars, and on a Wednesday evening, it shouldn't be too busy.
The disadvantages/issues are (with most pubs/restaurants):
Whether or not we would require to call in advance to reserve tables for a large gathering (especially not knowing how many people will show.)
Brewsters can be a bit noisy.
Whether or not current members are actually interested in sitting down at a table inside a restaurant instead of eyeing each others' cars. Hehe!Last edited by Orvis; 07-09-2009, 03:00 PM.

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
I love the legislature location, much better than a typical parking lot with no view and traffic streaming by. Sorry I missed this week, too cold and rainy for me. Hopefully for the next one I'll have the 944 Turbo out if the clutch work is finished.

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
why not meet at uc? or in the same parking lot where the big yearly euromeet is? can't rememeber the name of it, terralosa or someting, maybe im way off but its near WEM, i think the current location has alot of potential for nice pictures though.

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
Central location seems okay for everyone. However, finding a decent place to meet in raining day might be tough since the parking is usually tight.
Red Robin and Brewsters are the two places I can think of that has a larger parking lot for now as well. Moxies might not have enough parking for us unless we park towards the mall area and there is construction going on there.

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
I'm just a newb here and haven't made it to a meet yet (I work shift work), but I go to Edmonton quite a bit during summer months and have a few ideas.
I'm not sure if any of these are good ideas, but I'm trying to think of places that are either sort of central, have lots of parking, good food, etc. I can't remember street numbers on lots of these locations, as I haven't lived there for quite a while.....
Anyhow, here are a few ideas that I have for rained-out or alternate meet location:
-Red Robin (downtown location) Parking is limited and this one seems to be pretty busy at times but the food is good. Other (137th-50St) Red Robin might work, as there is tons of parking and resturaunt is not usually as full, but it is far from being centrally located.
-Brewsters (downtown OR southside location) I've seen Skyline/Silvia guys meet at southside location before. Not sure if it is regular thing.
-BP's (just north of West Ed Mall) Lots of parking. Pretty big location, but it gets busy here, so I dunno. Maybe a different location. Some locations will not be happy to serve large groups, from past experience.
-Moxies (Kingsway) has lots of parking and good food with variety. Not sure how swamped they get, but it wasn't too busy last time I ate there.
That's all I have from the top of my head. I know there has to be plenty other options I haven't thought of, so please post up.

Sorry, I can't make it tonite guys, too much to get done this evening. If those that do go could work out a rain location that will work for most people, that would be great!

Re: Bi-Weekly Edmonton Meet
+1 Fantastic idea Mike. We can talk about it tonight at the meet and we will communicate with others online as well. I am still debating which car to bring. My S4 doesnt have front tints anymore coz of stupid ticket, and it is damaged a little bit. It will go get fixed up at the end of the month though. (+installing my spoiler and roof spoiler and the RS4 grilleOriginally posted by VRado6 View PostWe should come up with an alternate location for rainy days, like a restaurant or something, so we can have a meet regardless of weather.
