so, i'm in polakia right now as some of you know, and driving around in this E36 325i. precisely a 1991, pre-vanos. i'm making this thread because i was surprised by some of the "tech" stuff it has, which is found on some of today's new cars, wow:

    -leveling projectors
    -electronic climate control
    -digital odometer
    -fuel consumption
    -5spd automatic [ gm still makes 4 spds ]
    -slow fading interior lights (classy)
-when car locked, pulling on outside door handle turns on interior lights (micro-switches in door handles i guess)
-coilpacks!!! haha, i had to replace them. thought those only came on 1.8t's
-mfa type lcd screen by clock displaying warnings

not bad for 16 years ago huh?? can't find any of that even today in a sunfire, can you? LOL actually, the fading lights you can, i know for a fact.

    any other examples?

I had a '74 BMW 525 that had fully independant suspension at 4 corners, 4 wheel disks, floating drivetrain, etc.....I thought that was really cool for an age when live axles and leaf springs ruled the roost
