  • Run-in with a Charger SRT-8

So I had my first run-in with a high-horsepower domestic yesterday. First off, I will say that I am one of the few that actually like these cars. Secondly, nothing beats the sound of a 425hp V8 at redline. I was actually a little shocked at how fast it was...of course, I didn't know what was happening until he was almost a full car length ahead but oh well lol. It was pretty even up until about 120 and then the big V8 ran out of steam and my little 6-cylinder kept on truckin'. I was pleasantly surprised that the guy wasn't a douchebag either, gave each other the thumbs up and were on our way. I had the little lady with me, and she wasn't overly impressed with the shinanigans...but she had a fairly noticable grin on her face at 180 haha!

    Moral of the story...Stage 3 isn't slow

i don;t know if they are the same engines as the SRT-8 300c's but I had a run in with one of those and it was neck and neck for a bit and then I started to run away around 130ish.

All on a closed track of course...

I think it's the same engine...I started about half a length back and inched up and ahead by half a length at around 120, and then took off.

      And yes, closed course

should be right around that at the crank...and I drop a few more than others at the wheels because it's a TIP.

The first thing that came into my mind when I read the thread title was, "Kyle, you bully" haha

I had an SRT8 Charger try and pass me one time. I let him get about to my front fender before I downshifted and TOOK OFF. He was still on the throttle up to about 200 and I had put bus lengths on him by that time. He tried passing again about a minute later, so I let him this time.

You need to send me some logs so we can squeeze out every last bit of potential (within safe reason) from your setup...

sorry guys but am i the only one that finds this completely disappointing? no disrespect meant at all, but i was expecting to hear about a kill.. not a slow agonizing torturous death. i find that so sad that a German sports sedan at approx 480hp and 3300 pounds has to slowly walk away from a piece of **** domestic (and it is a piece of **** if you have ever been inside one) with 425hp and 420 torque 5 speed slush box and weighing in at approx 3950 pounds...

Kyle's B5 S4 weighs in the neighborhood of 3700-3800lbs and also has a slushbox tranny.

His car is also running on a very rough base tune. It needs some tweaking.

                    Re: Run-in with a Charger SRT-8

no disrespect taken...but I think you're missing the point. We started at a light and I had no idea what was going on until he chirped the tires and took off. He easily had half a length (if not more) on me before I even hit the throttle. And when I say I caught him and had a lenght on him by 120, you have to remeber that it only takes about 5 seconds to get to that speed...so I would say I hauled him in pretty quick. After 120 it was no contest.

Actually, do this...count to 5 in your head...that's how fast I reeled in AND passed him...oh, and I'm a "slush-box" too lol

EDIT: I still need to get my ECUx working Jordan...hopefully soon, but I am away for the next couple weeks so it may have to be after the long weekend. And the car is going in for a full respray while I'm gone too

for the record...I wish the S4 weighed ONLY 3300 pounds. It's alot closer in weight to the Charger than one would think.

                        Re: Run-in with a Charger SRT-8

haha well im glad you cleared that up for me.. i was so dissapointed. and the slush box comment was solely meant for the charger. i have driver a 300c srt-8 and the transmission is absolute garbage. i have also driven a stage 2 Tip, and i found it to be a great tranny (would still rather have the 6). i think i need to take a rip in a full 3+, i have only been in Cyrille's 3-. im also glad you took no offense!!

EDIT: i have read numerous threadz on audizine about the weight of the B5 A4/S4 and the arguments never come to a general agreement... i figured they were around 3500, did not realize they were closer to 3700 although somehow i find that hard to believe

haha, no worries at all man...alot of people hate on the TIP. Personally I wouldn't want a 6speed (unless I could afford one as solely a 'fun' car). I drive in rush hour every god-damn day and pray to the TIP god every second of it lol...it's the main reason I sold my GLI .

Rides are free any time, too.

that my friend is why i take the c-train... i hate smelling my clutch after a morning from scenic acres to 5th avenue plaza. but i cant see myself driving a Tip through the mountains either...... basically im torn

EDIT: sorry to be a thread jacker but does anyone have a VAG near Christie Estate's / Westhills? i need to clear my TP code and my vag laptop went for a swim this weekend.. i have the worst luck lately

I have beaten the SRT-8 300 three times now in my CS... twice from a roll on Deerfoot and once at a stoplight. The owners always want to go

It has a huge HP advantage and on paper a 0-60 advantage too so not sure, I think it must just be a very heavy car with very fat owners who are not good drivers? :P
