  • CarStar Collision?

Has anybody had work done by these guys before? The wifey got rear-ended last night, which in turn pushed her into the car in front of her. Thankfully she is doing okay, aside from some back problems which we were at the doctor for late last night. The allroad on the other hand was not so lucky. Originally my wife had stated that there wasn't much damage...YEAH RIGHT! Here is a list of what I think will need to be replaced/fixed:

rear bumper w/ parktronic sensors (which now don't work)
    rear skid plate
rear hatch including license plate tub and trim
full exhaust (it actually broke just after the dp's)

front bumper (MAY be fixable) including lower grills and fogs
both headlights were pushed in (broken tabs?)
    headlight trim (both)
    hood and grill

and the check engine light is on, but I suspect that is from the exhaust leak...but I will VAG it before they tow.

Anyway, just wondering if this shop is any good...and we will not be paying for a cent so I don't care if they are expensive or not.

    TIA

    Re: CarStar Collision?

Not sure on Carstar, but my step-mom had a minor rear ender when she had her Allroad (she was hit) and it was a pricey repair, I would look at aftermarket exhausts if it needs to be replaced as a factory system is serious money from what I can remember.

Good luck and glad the wife is doing ok.

my buddy had his A4 fixed there. Good quality, long wait, and moderate customer service.

EDIT: im sure you would be close to writing the car off too with that much damage. it does not take much with Audi BMW and Mercedes.

Blair, do you remember where your mom's allroad was fixed? Did they do a good job?

I honestly think this is going to push 10k from what I see...and I haven't looked closely at what damage the exhaust did, or the front end from being pushed back...BRUTAL! Just to top it off, I am leaving on vacation on Friday too...F@CK ME!

          Well, I'd suggest two things.

One would be my body man, who's OCD... Chris at Auto Touch Ups. He's super cool to work with and up front about everything.

Otherwise, I'd call Glenmore and ask to whom they farm their body repairs. I was told when I was there in May, but I'll be damned if I can remember what the guy said.

GL! And glad to hear the wifey is doing reasonably okay... score one for Audi safety!!! If it comes to it, I can recommend a firm who helped my brother score a landmark victory (somewhat unprecedented, maybe not landmark) in regards to an auto accident injury.

If you do have thing written off, grab the engine and stroke/rebuild the darn thing for the S4!!! haha.

The wifey is doing relatively well, thanks guys. I will hear what insurance says as far as damage on Thursday, and if I don't like the quote it will be going somewhere else...maybe I will phone Auto Touch Ups just in case. I have a funny feeling that the repairs are going to be a lot more than most shops think...there is quite a bit of little crap broken :(

No experience with them, but when our 03 Avant got rear-ended we had the work done at A1-Autobody of all places. they don't do just Hondas! Actually, i'm pretty happy with the work that was done.

                  Re: CarStar Collision?

Just a little update...the car will be going to Cosmos Collision instead for the repair work. They are Glenmore's body shop of choice and I believe SCFC's as well (atleast they were when I had my GLI). I've dealt with Loc before and he was very good to deal with, so I'll feel much better having the car there.

Next up though...the initial appraisal came in at just over 7k, and could easily double in my opinion because A LOT of stuff was missed/overlooked. We will see...

yeah, and that wasn't including some major stuff like the parktronic not working and the front end wasn't even quoted yet because they have to tear it apart to see what happened...I'm guessing there is another 5k in damage they haven't even seen yet.

Good call. I had an entire 1/4 have the clear peel off about a year after a tirp to Car Star.
