it is looking like I am getting my front bumper resprayed under the paint warranty due to clearcoat peeling. If that falls through I may be interested.

i need my rear bumper, rear 1/4 panel, front bumper, hood
      then clearbar the whole car

      $$$$ sighhhhh

oh mark you know there are 5 shades of S4 silver right? my old jetta had 8 shades of silver for that color code!

so the shop won't really be able to do 1 big can and spray us all.. i highly doubt we all have the same match but who knows

I find it hard to believe that there are that many different shades. If Audi actually did that they are completely mental. That would cause a MASSIVE headache for bodyshops when they're doing touch up or single panel work

nope.. on my old jetta rudy's had to paint the roof spoiler twice to get the match right

front end 3x! to get the match!.. they hated that silver they said.. they still have a can of the proper match at the shop for my car hahahahaha

I don't know the length of the warranty. I took my car to Royal Oak and showed them the area of concern. They took photos and sent them in, and tried to measure the paint thickness with no luck. I got a call back this week that they would repaint it, but I have to go back for them to measure with a different tool first. I am waiting for them to change their mind, but already have an appointment made with their authorized shop.

Re: Feeler for a Group Painting: Calling Silver S4's!

What would be more appealing to a paint shop would be for a group buy where the parts are all removed prior (front bumper, fenders and hood). Reason for this is that any paint shop will charge shop rates for removing these parts for the customer and reinstalling, which often makes a big dent in the bill. When I had the front end of my Santorin Blue S4 painted, about 1/4 of the total cost was labour involved in removing the panels and all the trim (side markers, grill, fogs etc). Also there is the problem of storing the cars while they are worked on. Once a car is taken apart they like to keep it in one of the bays, and not leave it outside due to possible damage of the elements, and insurance reasons.

I got mine done at Screamin' Paintworks, they are a forum sponsor on Beyond.ca and have the best price in town (aside from Maaco... ugh) and are pretty receptive to the automotive communities, clubs specifically.

problem with doing hoods, bumpers, etc especially on a high sparkle silver like the b5 s4 has is that they HAVE to blend to the fenders,etc.. if the shop doesn't i woulnd't let them touch my car.. they don't have to blend huge but it must be done to get a good job

Fenders don't need to be on the car to be blended...

Had the measurements done today at Royal Oak and the repainting of my bumper because of peeling clearcoat is a go. It HAS to go to Cosmos Collision...any experience with them? Can't wait for the nice shiny bumper!

Hmmmm.. I should really look into this... I have a few spots where the clear is peeling. Any idea the length of warranty or depth of paint?

Not a clue. Must be original paint, though...any re-spray and your are out of luck. My spots were the size of twonies when I first went in and are bigger since then...
