S4 Shifter Trim

Does anybody know of different styles of the shifter surround as the one i got from Ryan seems to be different than the one out of my A4 same part number different revision 8D0 264 261 AB and R. The difference is on how the shift boot and chrome trim attach to the piece on my A4 the piece that the chrome trim clips into and the shift boot holder clips into is part of the shift surround. But on the one from Ryan it does not have this section there is a lip but with no notches for anything to clip to both are molded to the shift surround so i don't see anywhere to attach a similar piece to hold the shift boot and chrome trim?

All the searches on the now defunct AW haven't helped but on my big PDF of B5 parts it shows the style that is out of my A4 and no mentions of different styles. The other one i saw online was the Carbon fiber RS4 style and it looked the same as my A4 but it was screwed into the trim piece.

Top right corner of last pic the light colored piece has a gold screw in it on my A4 it is black and molded in on the one from Ryan nothing exists.

really roger?? i never installed it in my car as it came from shokan and i painted my old wood one before but looks the same to the naked eye.. theres no way its a TIP is it?? i don't think the TIP shifter is that big? shokan said it was 6spd s4.. hrmmmmm

haven't pulled apart my S4 one yet but i assumed that the A4 would be the same

I was just swapping this one into the A4 so i could paint that one with out any down time. I have 3 total so i shouldn't need another one.

just saw a guy post on QW showing his new trim he got for his wifes tip and the shift surround looks like mine so that answers that.

I have a shifter surround from my S4 I could probably sell to you but you'll need to reuse your chrome trim ring as the one I was sent is pretty fubar, let me know.
