  • Opinions needed from S4 group

So I'm likely going to be ripping the engine out of the S4 for the second time in 10k km's due to a torn/pierced wastegate line. Although I could do it without completely removing the engine I figured I'll get some more practice at it .

My question is...what should I replace (again) even though it may only have 10k on it? I'll likely be deleting the SAI system at the same time as well as cleaning her up again, but I'm not sure if I should bother replacing anything else...

    TIA

    Replace with bigger turbos?

Not sure if you have replaced all the mounts.. but that could be worthwhile. 10k isnt much, so everything should still be in good condition

          gay TIP stuff lol!

I replaced all the mounts last time...as well as silicon hoses. All the seals, gaskets, plugs, etc. were done as well.

Do you think it would be worth it to replace the alternator just as a precaution? The starter was just replaced as well...

Not going to happen...don't need more power, and don't want to deal with tranny issues (or buy a $5k race tranny that can handle 500+hp).

            ...it would be fun though

              I forgot you were tip....

Since you've done everything already.. I would try to replace the lines with as little work as possible.

Maybe run a second set of wastegate lines to avoid this problem again

Should we be sitting in class I would be raising my hand high right now.How do you run second set of waste gate lines or is it easier then it sounds ??

                    Kyle,

The alternator isn't hard to replace later if it dies. No need to replace it while the engine is out, unless of course you have a few hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket...

                      BUMP!!!

So I finally had some time to work on the engine and need some guidance...where can I buy some high-grade vacuum tubing that I can use as new wastegate lines? If I ever have to rip the engine out again to fix a part this small I will kill myself...so I'd like to run new lines all together...

                      TIA

If you can find some small diameter, re-inforced coolant hosing, that would work well.

Re: Opinions needed from S4 group

you can use steel braided fuel line hose with fittings, not the cheapest route, but it will definitely work well
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

any idea where to find said options?

PS - the SAI system is dumb...ripped it out last night and realized how useless it is. Not to mention there is actually some room to work in there now!
