It's like that on pretty much every OEM S4 bumper that's ever been removed.
The side clips are riveted to the fender, which gets pulled out slightly when you pull the bumper off.
I could check and make sure the bumper is seated correctly in the clips, but beyond that there's not much you can do- other than screwing it up into the fender

yea i'll play now that i know how it sticks.. the stupid side clips pop out of the fender causing the gap i think.. i lift the bumper and push it back in but the 2 minutes of driving over a bump it falls out again.. i'll just play around.. its the dumbest bumper design ever tho..
You can also adjust how high the bumper sits on the front mounts pretty easily.. that could help get rid of some of the side gap.
(The front mounts have inserts that are threaded and move up and down..)

If the gap was vertical, that would help, but it's usually lateral...

thanks mark.. it is vertical.. and i did remove teh bumper shocks as per APRs instructions when installing my intercoolers so that coulda F'd it up.. doh
