Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?
Well, since I'm SOL on the VAST tip chip it looks like I may just have to get IPT to do the valve bodies at some point. I could also go with a GIAC tip chip, however from what I hear, they don't make a real huge difference. Now, there's another alternative that I've been pondering.
Someone, either here or on Passatworld, mentioned something about the euro TCU's being different. If a guy could source a euro TCU would it a) be compatible with my North American ECU? and b) would it make any real difference in shift/clutch application times? I know it's a long shot, but I figure I'd ask anyway.

Graeme says you're reliable, and the guy to talk to, so I'll go for it.Originally posted by The_Jerbel View PostYou won't be dissappointed by the TIP chip. Like I said, there was a noticeable difference in the cars that I drove with the chip.
I'd love a manual, if they made cars about 6 inches longer under the dash. So the tip will have to do, just getting it working better is key.
PM me a price quote and we'll get things moving.

So far it seems like the tip chip for the 2.7T might be the best solution.

I have had great success with upgrading the drive by wire throttle response with a Sprint Booster. They attach to the port behind the break petal. I have noticed a huge increase in throttle response off the line as well at highway speeds.

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?
Sell the car or convert to drive by cable? (if you have a B5 or B6 1.8T) http://www.034motorsport.com/product...ducts_id=13821
Other than that, I don't know if chip tuners have managed to re-program it. It's never been an issue so I haven't researched it in depth.Last edited by Mister T; 08-06-2009, 05:48 PM.

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?
I think that a lot of the lag you guys experience is from VW/Audi's crappy drive by wire system. I know that a lot of the Passat B5.5 DBW guys complain about it.

not sure if any of this info is swaying me towards going with the chip install or not.

Brake boost as in left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas?

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?
it is just the way the tanny engages in first, the lag is crappy. if it bugs you that much just brake boost a bit and you wont notice the lag.

Re: Anyone here using a tip chip?
OK so how about a tip chip and an engine chip... I need to get rid of that lag. Is this a drive by wire thing? I'm somewhat clueless as to the cause of this since it apparently doesn't exist in the MT I made the assumption that it was related to the transmission.
