HELP!!!! Dont know which Chip/software for my K04 upgrade

So after deciding to do my first engine upgrades to my car
im wanting to get a K04 ugrade however i dont know what chip to get
i was quoted this by my local tuner shop and they said its a well balanced system

We're starting to get into writing our own tunes, but in the meantime we can offer VAST remote custom tuning (using a logging and tweaking method), as well as APR software.

i need something that lets me tune the ecu. someone told me about a software package with a dongle. i think it was mark or roger. what are you building your tunes with?

this would be a little more helpful if people told me what experiences they have with their tunes so i know a little more about what to do to my own car... rather than advertise and promote something else... reason being ive been to many shops and everyone promotes their own exclusive product which obviously makes them the most money... i would like to know real world applications and run away from the marketing bulls*** that ive been experiencing up till now

You will be fine going with any tune that has local support.. The off the shelf stuff like GIAC/AWE or APR are fine, but you can squeeze out a few more ponies if you went custom via VAST or Autoworks...

well, without getting too technical.. if a business has been successfully selling tuning chips/software for your application, then i suspect they're all good. you don't have that many degrees of timing and a/f ratios to be better then someone else .. once u get a few maps that work and don't blow up engines, then you're golden. i wouldn't trust a custom tune from jerbel just yet, as his tuning experience is limited.

but the questions you probably should be concerned with are...
a) is it a chip or software flash?
b) what dtc's does it disable? (i.e. can you remove your cat and a/c condensor)
c) is there an upgrade path for larger Maf or Injectors?

think of some specifics and maybe some 1.8t owners can help ya out.

i've had acceptable success with the APR Tune on my stage 3 audi. i know there are a few different versions, and i beleive mine is the oldest. the dwell on ignition is too long and i burn out coils and plugs often. i beleive the two sellers of the APR tunes are Concept1 and Das Auto House.

talkin to Chris Meyers at Das Auto House is probably your smartest bet. plus, it gives you an excuse to drive to red deer and get tuned. then you can enjoy the fun drive back to calgary with more powa under ur butt

thanx dude, i remmeber now. i'm gonna give the car another overhaul in a few weeks. then look at fitting some new turbos if there are no other problems. but i suspect i'm going to have a clutch/pressure plate issue again.

yah, don't wanna hijack this thread. but last summer it started acting up. then it fixed itself. i've been driving one of my other cars around lately so it was sitting for a bit. i went to drive it again and it's not happy getting into gears.

between this issue and my svt's misfire... i don't have time right now for them! lol

We are also a distributor of APR tunes.

You're right about our tuning experience being limited right now, which is why we don't currently sell our own custom tunes. We are just about to start testing and developing. We won't be selling our tunes until they are proven and established. In the mean time, we can get VAST or APR tunes.

I first bought my S4 several years ago with a GIAC chip. It was pretty good. Aggressive, but not overly reliable. Then I went Stage 3 and I read and researched like crazy, and ended up going with VAST tuning. I had AWESOME customer support, as well as a great experience with the tune, as well as their willingness to revise my tune whenever I wanted.

Then about a year later, or so, I became a VAST dealer because I was so pleased with the way the company had dealt with myself and others that I had talked to.

That is my experience. I have yet to have a customer who was unhappy with the power or reliability of their VAST tune.

alright so I kinda wanna know what my options are for a turbo and software package for my AEB engine... ive been hearing a lot on other forums about the gtrs but apparently it wont work on an aeb engine

I had a GT28rs on my old AEB.. it definitely DOES work just fine!
It was APR STage 3+.....
There are plenty of other options though, an AEB is one of the stronger engines, so if anything you should have the ability to push things a little more.
