how wide can I go with stock S-line suspension?

I finally picked wheels for the Avant. Rubber will be 235 40r18 (stock sizing). ET on the wheels is 35. With S-line suspension is it going to look goofy with anything wider than 18x8? They come in 8x5 and 9 but I'm thinking without a lower stance any kind of stretch will look off. It's a daily driver for my wife and kids so lower isn't an option and most likely never will be.

I was considering going staggered. Won't 9" look goofy given it's a 235 on there with stretch? The rear does have less gap (probably 1.5 fingers) than the front. I'm not totally sold on not being able to rotate the tires though.

Thanks everyone. 18x8.5 ET 32 it is. I guess we'll see how flush it sits. I have some 8mm spacers collecting dust in the garage if I don't like the looks but I think it should be fine. Pics in a couple weeks when they arrive and are mounted.

Wider rubber in the rear only means more understeer.

Be a badass, run the 9" up front with the 8.5" in the back.

Then teach the wifey to drift.
