Mirrors and what looks like oxidization..

When i had my windows tinted the chick asked if I wanted to replace the mirrors on my A4 and my buddies X5 because they have those brown wave looking things going on. She said that heated mirrors have gel packs and when they bust this is what happens....Quoted almost $1000 for my 2 and his 2 mirrors..... whats the deal with this and does anyone else have this issue?

Common problem on BMW sidemirrors, my last car had it (2000 323i).

Does he have the electrochromatic side mirrors? Those are expensive..

lol my drivers mirror has this problem on my s4, Its not pretty! but i will wait for a part out before i spend some cash on getting it fixed. Still works fine!

happened to the A6, I found one on ebay for 40 US shipped, they are the same between the A6, A4, S4, S6 and a bunch of others, possibly even the passat

I got the electronic ones that automatically tint. Im sure you can probably find some at a scrap yard if your car is more then 3 years old. Atleast upgrade you mirrors if your going to replace the glass.
