  • Car (A4) died on road need advice... HELP!

So went for lunch and car started to misfire. No flashing or solid MIL so I kept going. Has been underboosting/misfiring for a while so figured problem would go away like usual. Nope.

It went from just misfiring to having no throttle at full input. Once a MIL flashed briefly and went out. Then I shut it down and restarted to gauge effect. Seemed fine then the issue repeated. After I tired to shut it down and go again the car just wouldn't catch.

Added a gallon of fuel (was actually on my way to refuel at the time), with no improvement. VAGd the car, cleared the codes, and swapped out CPs for different ones with no effect. Unplugged the MAF, no dice. It's getting spark and cranking fine but just won't start.

old guy from Audizine suggested it could be my fuel pump. Any chance the filter could be clogged and is dropping the line pressure?

Feeling out of my depth here... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel pump related issue, search on audizine cause I'm sure most of those codes have been posted before with the results. gl

I also think its the pump, sounds exactly like what the wifes car did, take the nipple off the fuel rail it looks like a valve stem setup push it in and roll the engine over ( might need two people if your pump is good it will spray fuel, and if not then yup pump.

after cranking your car: pull a plug and see if it smells like fuel and is wet. If it does than you have a different issue.

If it does not smell like fuel see if you have a power at the fuel pump fuse if you do jump the fuel pump relay and see if it turns on. If it doesnt than your pump is gone

or just skip all the steps and just jump the pump :P

            Hm

I'll have to fire up the cummins and tow the b!tch home first. Then purchasing the requisite tools and figuring out the theory-->application of what you're saying will commence.

Or I'll just buy an 034 upgraded pump... but, I should learn the due diligence diagnosis procedure and do it right the first time. Thanks. Tools are cheaper than parts.

Wish I could drive the CQ instead... damn PS pump.

Re: Car (A4) died on road need advice... HELP!

Checked the pressure at the fuel rail, and there's zero pressure. So now my question moves to OEM replacement vs. the 034MS upgraded high output drop-in pump.

If it were me... I'd just jump to the upgraded pump... (unless its WAY more expensive then the OEM replacement)

$440 shipped. Should have it this week.

I know I won't need it but like the idea of having the headroom or option to upgrade later with one less hassle.
