  • Misterious recall

On Audiforums.ca is a long thread discussing a "Plastic water pump" recall by Audi.
An idividual claims he've got free water pump replacement under the recall.
    Recall is not publicized.

I called Glenmore ant got negative answer.

    Anybody's comments?

Perhaps an Audi USA recall not honoured by Audi of Canada...

Looks like a typo=> have to type with my anti-fog ski goggles due all of the impaired visibility caused by the smog coming from Vancouver.

The recall action happens in Montreal, not in US.

            Year, make, model?

Link to the thread if you have it and I'll take a look and see what I can find out.

                Re: Misterious recall

Nah that was never a recall, it wasn't even a bulletin. The very early 3.0T engines had an issue with losing coolant from the pumps. (From mild leaks to OMG my car puked something all over the deerfoot come and get me!) at first we just changed the pumps with the same units from the factory (because there was nothing new to put in.) Then they superceeded the part to another pump with an aluminium impeller, and we haven't seen an issue since the change. Those guys need to take thier tin foil hats off.

It was just one of those wonderful bugs that can pop up when a brand new engine/model comes out, happened in the S4 also. I even saw similar things happen in two Q5 3.2's! It's a conspiracy... or just warranty claims, one or the other.

I'm pretty sure the original numbers (don't quote me these are from memory) were 06E-121-008-N and 008-P, they have since been replaced and in the lookup they even specify the new ones as being aluminium.

Recalls aren't ever a secret as they are usually for safety issues, sometimes for other issues like coils making customers and parts guys insane for 10 years. Although we usually do get a heads up of recalls coming down the pipe so we can prepare our inventories for them, like the coils and the new DSG mechtroni... I've said too much!

                Hope this helps.
