The factory oil is 0W-30.
Next oil should be 5W-30
Above 40C the oil should be 5W-40
(according to the user's booklet)

you guys are now using new SLX oil instead of syntec right? is the VW specific oil

got new edge too which kills syntec but they don't have it in 5w40 weight.. i'm tempted to switch to it in 5w30 but not sure if it'll be too thin for hot ass 2.7

We use the SLX in the new diesel engines and the R8, and still the TXT for the RS6. We have the new 5W40 Syntec in the pumps here for everything else but I smell a change to the SLX across the board for everything coming. Don't quote me on that but I just remember when the whole change to full synthetic (VW502) and larger oil filters in the 1.8t longitudinal engines came about, and that was due to the sludge issues from running conventional oil. Seems like similar memos and approaches to fixing the issues (Valve deposits in this case), things like the cost of SLX plummeting it used to be like a rediculous $17 a liter when it was released and now it is $8.84 a liter.

Only time will tell, but I bet you a coke we will see it (SLX) as our main oil in the next 12 -18 months if the next syntec is less than miraculous.

i can actually get slx if i ask too but can't remember if its 5w40 or not if it is i may get some on my next pickup
i was kinda told slx was replacing syntec for all vw dealers but maybe audi isn't fully included in that for some reason.

Re: Seafoam - I used it in my Supra and it seemed to work - 1/3 can in the fuel, 1/3 in the oil about 200kms before an oil change, and 1/3 sucked up the brake vac line.

Did it on the mk4 jetta and the vac line part almost hosed the downstream o2 sensor (which is a known issue) so beware of that.

I'd say just do fuel and oil (before a change) but really it's the vac sucking that does a lot of the cleaning.

Also didn't need 2 people. Don't stall it.

Apparently, Lexus has a patent on a dual injector system – where most fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber, while a little is sprayed into the valve to “wash” it clean: “D-4S Direct Fuel Injection” Featuring two injectors per cylinder, D-4S (Direct-injection 4-stroke Superior version) is the latest evolution of Lexus’ direct fuel injection technology. One injector is installed in the combustion chamber, a second in the intake port. In this way the engine combines the strengths of both direct and port injection, ensuring optimum engine performance and efficiency. Torque is improved, while fuel consumption and emissions are reduced.
